Looks......terrible, and yes, I'm being serious. Looks like so much I've played before and actually a bit dull.

They really should have showed something else for the 2nd trailer for this game though.

Technically, this is a gameplay video rather than a trailer and the 2nd trailer was shown back in January 2013.

I will never understand people who over hype something in which we have seen a total of 10 minutes of gameplay. I understand those who say it is bad even less.

I mean I have been thus far, greatly unimpressed with any of the footage of games I've seen on next gen, but that doesn't mean I am going to pigeon hole them as something.

Relax. Crabs in a barrel mentality.

Most of us that are hyped on the video are also familiar with Xenoblade that came before it.  Since this is carrying over the battle system and greatly expanding upon it, you get some very eager people.

And yes, NinjaBlade, peopel actually think that looks amazing.

Trust me, as an avid player of Xenoblade and Monster Hunter, they play nothing alike. One is an open world JRPG, the other is a closed ARPG.

I've played Monster Hunter if only enough to dislike it. I've also played earlier xeno games. Just because one is closed world and the other is open world doesn't really always represent a large difference in the way the games are played.   I'm sure most would say Dragon's Dogma is an open world JRPG. It is and I wouldn't say that it isn't.  Doesn't stop it from playing like Monster Hunter on crack. I would go as far as saying the only real difference between Dragon's Dogma and Monster Hunter would be cohesive world vs arena like stages and DD having way faster combat at least from the gameplay perspective. So forgive me for not trusting your opinion but I have footage and more than enough experience to make my own assessments until anyone can actually play the game which is that X looks like Monster Hunter with Mechs.

I would say the biggest difference between the two is the gameplay. On MH and its clones your slashes are manually controlled by you. Xenoblade plays more like an MMO and your attacks are automated. You manually activate the special skills. I'm not sure combat like that would be akin to the monster hunter formula. There doesnt seem to be precision collision detection aswell... something that is given a huge importance on the other formula.

Nope, this cant be a hunting game. MMO RPG at worst.

Thank you so much for your reiterating your opinion about the differences in those genres once again ^_^  Doesn't change my outlook one iota though. I think Phantasy Star Online is a hunting game and that's an MMO.   So until I see something that shows me otherwise it's still MH w/  Mechs to me.  I'm not saying that you are wrong. Simply that I don't agree with your assessment.

I will never get into JRPGs I think.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

You played Xenoblade? Tell us what you think.

Sorry. When I say trailer, I generally mean anything that's designed to preview/hype a game before release. My bad on the video release, I only knew of the E3 Direct trailer that people were jizzing themselves over.

In phantasy star online you are in control of your slashes. Again, in Xeno you arent. Its an auto-attack.

Have you even played Xenoblade to be making these assumptions?

Errr...as someone who has played and loved both Xenoblade and Monster Hunter tri, I really don't see the comparisons.

The battle system in Monster Hunter essentially has different buttons to press for different types of attacks. There is also a large focus on where you hit the monster you are fighting (cutting off the tail etc) and avoiding their attacks.

In Xenoblade, standard attacks are automatic and you use the bar at the bottom of the screen to select specific attacks which often have some sort of status effect attached or positional advantage (attack from the side to inflict slow for instance). These attacks all have a cooldown and you often have to work with your party members to climb up the chain of status effects (ex. you inflict Break which allows another move to inflict Topple which allows another move to inflict daze).

Additionally, nearly every other part of the game is very different from the leveling to the exploration to the story to the equipment etc...literally the only similarity I see is that in both games you fight large monsters...

It is good to see the usual "shit on every Nintendo thread"-brigade is alive and well.

I could only imagine the amount of banderas gifs and basedYosp hashtags if this game came to a particular...different... system.

Keep fighting the good fight.
