Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Mario 3d World: Much better than the Galaxy games.

I just got my Wii U and I'm enjoying this game a lot more than I thought I would. It's not as good as Sunshine and 64, but I'm slowly starting to realize that we never get mario games like those ever again. But the game is solid. Controls, level design and overall game play feels a lot better than they did in galaxy and I'm overall happy with this game.

Sunshine is my favorite, then 64
Galaxies ar OK but are the worst IMO
3DLand and World style likes me better

So since you're obviously being sarcastic: Mario Galaxy games are better than Mario 3D World, but Mario 3D World is better than Mario Sunshine.

I don't think anyone expected Mario 3D World, a sequel to a handheld game, to be as good as a Mario Galaxy game though.

Well, the games have very different approaches and they do it equally good in my opinion.
3D World tries to be pure fun, the Galaxy games want to be epic adventures.

Congrats on the Wii U. More people need to get one.

I wouldn't say that 3D World is better than Galaxy 1. Galaxy 1 blew me away. The ONLY really negative things about Galaxy 1, are playing Luigi, and how kinda useless the Spring powerup is. But really, that game is amazing.

Now the incredibly pointless and unnecessary follow-up Galaxy 2: The Lost Levels? Yes, 3D World is absolutely way better.

Mario Galaxy 2 is easily the best game in the series, Mario Galaxy 1 a solid number 2. I don't think there is much debate here just given the amount of content and awesome gameplay experiences to be found in those two games, which simply have not been matched in any other 3D Mario games.

Mario 64, Mario World, and Super Mario Bros 3 are all debatable for the third position. I personally prefer Super Mario Bros 3.

As for Mario 3D World, it is a game I would have expected on the 3DS, honestly. I was wondering when the game was first shown if Nintendo had made a mistake. It really is just a sequel to a spinoff game. It is a painfully linear and very stripped down Mario Galaxy game.

Mario Sunshine was easily one of the 2 worst home console Mario game, only rivalled by SMB2 on NES, and that one doesn't even really count.

Idk I think mario galaxy was the worst of the 3D games. My rank would be something like this.

1 . Mario 64
2.sunshine
3.3d world
4.galaxy 1 and 2.

I really hated a lot of things about the Galaxy series to be honest. It my opinion it was the most overrated game of all time.

Why I hated the galaxy games were due to the shaking the controller to do a move that could be relegated to a button. The game design was superb but the shaking the controller not so. Skyward sword on the contrary make motion controls seem like not just an after thought. I also enjoyed mario 3d world more than galaxy.

Mario Sunshine is clearly the best in the series, it perfected the Mario64 formula and added the free camera. the game felt like an adventure. not a level compilation. The FLUDD was awesome and added gameplay variety with its transformations.

Galaxy games are cool but they lack cohesion and inmersion. they are more like 2D mario games.

Sunshine for me was hands down my favourite.

3D World was really good fun, except that the learning curve was far too shallow, and for me the game barely began to get fun until about world 5.
