Well, I wanted to wait before I got a PS4... there was a time when I wanted it to have at least ten games I'd be interested in already released before getting it.
It was released here in Argentina at the price of 6499 Argentinian Pesos on 29/11/2013 (or 11/29/2013 if you'd prefer, lol). There were news about that everywhere because that was over 1100 USD back then.
I said to myself that I wouldn't buy it until it had a few games I would be interested in playing... like MGSV: Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain or Final Fantasy XV. So I waited... until devaluation hit us hard and the console went from 6499 Pesos to...

8999 Pesos... while some people wait for a price cut... we got a price rise (in pretty much everything, not only PS4). I should've known it wouldn't drop it's price but a lot of people here were also waiting for a price drop. We were all fools, lol. I was kind of angry at myself for not buying it before even though it had no games for me yet. I even thought of buying it at that price before it went even higher!... like a week (maybe less?) later, the government did something so that companies, corporations, retailers and that kind of stuff went back to the previous prices (prices before that massive inflation that happened in like 3 days) plus ~7% more that month and another ~7% more during this month. So the price went down to...

6999 Pesos... when that happened I was like "holy shit, I must buy it now before it raises AGAIN!" but it was out of stock on Sony's website... I started reading some forums and Sony Argentina's facebook page to see if anyone knew where there was stock. Some people in a forum said "there's stock at this sony store!", "there's stock at this other sony store" but when you called them they'd say "No, there's no stock but keep checking the site. It'll be updated when we get some stock and you can buy it online"... yeah, right. For some reason, they lied (they probably wanted to keep them until prices rose again so that they could sell what they had for higher profits and told workers to say there's no stock when asked on the phone... I don't know)...
Anyways... I kept checking Sony's facebook that day and I saw people were asking if they had any PS4 in stock and they replied that they'd have stock the next day in every sony store and that people should line up in the morning before the stores open to get one! (yeah, a bit over 2 months after launch and people still have to line up to get a PS4... at least here).
So... I woke up early in the morning and went to my closest sony store... I was there too early and the place was still closed... there was no one at the door so I went to a café to have some coffee (I prefer tea with milk but whatever) to let some time go by and went back to the place... there was a dude standing at the door waiting so I stayed before more people arrived. A lot of people arrived later. We were around 30 but not all of us were there for the PS4. They opened the doors and I got my PS4.
Here's the moment I was setting it up with the date I got it (DD/MM/YYYY):

So yeah... I bought it before the price went up again even though there's nothing for me to play right now... The only games I have are Resogun and Contrast which I got for free with PS Plus. I could get Don't Starve and that other "horror" game which name I don't remember right now... but I'm not interested in those in the slightest, lol.
I can still play with my PS3 and PC while I wait for Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, Final Fantasy XV, Deep Down, The Evil Within, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and who knows what else is going to be released that could gain my interest.
Well, there you have it... the reason I bought a PS4 so early and without any games I want yet :S
Thank you, economy (?) :P
