Im so sick of you retards who make these type of threads, what alot of you ignorant people dont understand is Nintendo games dont follow the typical formula of sales, they tend to have long legs just look back through history!! So Donkey Kong will crack a mill hell it will probably crack 4 or 5. Everyone said Super Mario 3D World was a flop yet its already sold over 2 million units.

Nintendo games used to have long legs but with the WII U that situation has changed ... SM3DW is a FLOP for the most part seeing as how it's the absolute lowest in terms of sales in the series. BTW it hasn't even sold 2 million yet so your wrong on that part.

A game with almost 40 % of attach rate is hardly a flop.

If you include digital sales, Super Mario 3D World easily surpassed the 2 million mark. So, you´re the wrong one here

I dont see how its changed? what are you basing that off? As far as Im aware, Wind Waker, Nintendo Land, Super Mario Bros U are still selling. Its not a flop look at its user base in comparison to its sales its fine. The only reason why people are saying these stupid things is cause they are comparing the sales to Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 at the same time frame, once again the user base was totally different for the Wii than the Wii U. Actually it has it was 1.95 mill in December we are in February it would definitely be over 2 million thats including digital. But all you doomsayers are going to be proven wrong yet again you wait and see as time goes you will see once again that Nintendo games have legs.

All of those games that you have listed are probably selling sub 10K or even lower per week so how's that for "legs" ? User base doesn't matter if the game were truly that good. Actually according to vgchartz it's still under 2 million and if anything nintendo are probably using shipped and digital numbers. Those doom sayers are probably right.

Sales to date - 449,748

I'm not sure if it will break a million at this point.  It will probably have decent legs, so it's possible.

If Retro would have done a 3D Metroid game instead (released at the same time), would it have sold more software? Would it have sold more hardware?

We may never know for sure but I will bet almost anything that it would have sold alt more of both and when/if Retro does a 3D Metroid game for the Wii U it will sell more software and hardware than DKTF

It is a nice game to add to anyones collection, but not a big seller. Returns did what on a 100 million system? The holidays will have to push it past the million mark and beyond. Think Gamecube numbers.

I sold 11 copies of the game among my friends and I just rebought my copy (again), and somebody asked me if I could sold him another copy, the small price drop helped a lot for us.

It'll pass 1million easily, but I don't see it breaking 2m ;(.

Did not even register on the Japanese pre-order chart.

I hope not. I was very disappointed. I wanted something that felt like an awesome sequel to the original DKC trilogy games. This is just a weird platformer using the DKC characters. Not a popular opinion with forum posters on vg sites, but apparently more actual consumers agree with me because this game is not popular.

And stop using 'attach rate' as a sign of a game's success with the Wii U! People who are stuck with a Wii U are desperate to get some decent use out of it. These games should be SELLING CONSOLES and they aren't. We're a year and a half into the console's lifetime, these new games should bump up system sales. It's not surprising that people who got their system for $300/$350 in 2012 are buying one of the only games to come out on it in months.

I highly doubt it. The Metroid franchise isn't very big. Tropical Freeze will probably sell more than Metroid Prime 3 that had a 100M install base.

So what counts as a flop these days if sm3dw has sold over 2million and ww over a mill? And yet these are considered flops! Dktf will sell all through the consoles life it will easily do another 500k plus over the next 5-6 years imo. Iego movie has sold 100k on ps4 and 90thousand on wii u is that a flop? Where the thread for thief is a flop etc
