By why do you reckon it's not aimed at hardcode Nintendo fans?

It could be that you could say that "casuals" were interested in the last iteration. Were all those 6 million copies really by "hardcore" nintendo fans who purchased it ?

It's impossible to tell who exactly bought the game but what we do know is that the Donkey Kong Country series comes from the SNES days so it has a lot of nostalgia appeal for hardcode Ninty fans. It's also reknown for its difficulty which is not really a selling point for casual gamers.

There are two types of nintendo fans I believe. The old nintendo fans who are the NES and SNES fans also came back to the WII. Then we have the N64 and GC guys. It could be that the old nintendo fans (Who are somewhat in touch with consumers.) wanted the game.

True but DKC isn't exactly meant for the "hardcore" nintendo fans like zelda ...

And who do you think pre-orders video games?

If a "hardcore" game like Zelda had such a big difference, then a "casual" game like DKC should have an even bigger difference. For example, when Just Dance was more popular, on VGC the games had at max 100k pre-orders, and as we know, those games had insanely high first week sales.

The problem is casuals also depend on the "image" of the console too. Despite the fact that the PS4 lacks something innovative as the WII mote it's still more popular than it's competing consoles because of "image".

So? That really doesn't have much to do with the big difference on VGC pre-order numbers and real first week sales.

The same has happened countless times with 360 and PS3 games, with "hardcore games". I remember Borderlands 2 having 500k pre-orders on 360 and the first week sales were 1 million.

Halo 4 had like 1.5 million pre-orders, the game sold 2.5 million first week.

Not 100% sure on this one, but I think Uncharted 3 had 600k pre-orders or something around that and it's first week sales were 1.3 million

And in all, you simple can't trust VGC when it comes to pre-orders.

At this point it's only the system sellers I think that will pull up some meaningful numbers. Bayonetta 2 is pretty much gonna be left out to die and monolithsoft's X is pretty much gonna stay under 800K.

So much so that some reviewers see it has a huge negative.

Which makes me /facepalm

And with japan sales...it could come true.

Yeah with that start I think everyone can see it happening now. At this point only nintendo's best will make a difference.

I predict it will get ported to Nintendo's next-gen portable (which is already well into development) and rack up an extra 800k-1 mill WW in sales there. So I guess there's that silver lining.

Nahhh, I don't see them releasing the new system until 2016. I also highly doubt that nintendo will port it over seeing as how most of their releases are brand new and the games that do get a rerelease are shared by remakes.

Im so sick of you retards who make these type of threads, what alot of you ignorant people dont understand is Nintendo games dont follow the typical formula of sales, they tend to have long legs just look back through history!! So Donkey Kong will crack a mill hell it will probably crack 4 or 5. Everyone said Super Mario 3D World was a flop yet its already sold over 2 million units.

Nintendo games used to have long legs but with the WII U that situation has changed ... SM3DW is a FLOP for the most part seeing as how it's the absolute lowest in terms of sales in the series. BTW it hasn't even sold 2 million yet so your wrong on that part.
