Global up

PS4 - 5,060,425

Wii U - 5,676,622

--> 616k gap

100k gap for PS4 WW - 8th Feb

100k gap for PS4 WW - 15th Feb

400k gap for PS4 WW - 22th Feb (Japan launch, 2 days counted - end 23rd by Media create) so "only" 300k units sold in Japan during launch would be enough

And the PS4 will be ahead during the Japan launch, like I said :D

Excellent PS4 sales! Now even though it's still early, if Sony can keep a nice 30k gap or so every week in NA they can build up a nice little lead for the duration of the year. That way when MS pulls the trigger on a Gears or Halo with a special edition console it won't do much damage in the states overall.

Go PS4!!

Apart from a Titanfall spike, I think that gap will grow in America (50K - 60K). I also think the PS4 will be outselling the X1 5:1 in Europe by mid March. Clearly Sony have been stockpiling for a huge launch in Japan but they won't need as many in that region after a couple of weeks, so they'll put more stock in Europe and America.

Once MS launches Xbox One in the rest of Europe it will go down to 3:1. I think with a price drop and big shooter releases this year they will take back the NA market. If they don't drop the price then it will be neck and neck in NA in 2014.

Why are microsoft fans so adamant, that the xbox will reclaim north america. And you act like sony is going to do nothing, you're basing this on microsoft without thinking of sony. This isn't 2006 anymore, times have changed and north america is up for anyone, it isn't waiting for the xbox.

My prediction is based on the price drop. Infamous and The Order aren't going to win America. Titanfall & Halo for $399.99 will win America.

And yes, the userbase does matter.  Wii U was in around a million homes at the launch of Batman.  PS4 and XBOne are in 3-5X that with Tomb Raider.  So having 2-3X the sales is natural, especailly with userbases so small.

Especially when looking at the One version of TR, it's really in the same ballpark as the late port's on Wii U in terms of sales and attach rates.

Okay, so no answer to Deus Ex then, that being a game that came out when WiiU was in about 4 million homes when it launched?

Really, I genuinely don't understand how you don't see this userbase argument when it comes to launches.  If what you said was true then Call of Duty selling 400k copies on PS4 in a week when there were only 1 million PS4's in existance (USA launch) would be humanly impossible, because apparently the bar for selling on a 1m userbase is about 35k for ports, right?  Pick any of the other PS4 launch ports if you'd prefer, but the point still stands.

TheLastStarFighter said:

I think in all cases it was about milking exsisting assets for some extra cash.  Especially in TR's case.  With Batman and several of the other Wii U shovel ports, I think they were making sure they didn't miss out on the chance to grab some money on the next Wii craze and get a presence early - which of course didn't happen.  These late ports are easy extra sales that they (obviously) didn't get on the first release, and they can often charge a premium for the version on the new system.

I'd argue the fact that pretty much every WiiU early port which has had a sequel within a year got a WiiU port as well shows what they were going for with this (Batman; Assassin's Creed; Call of Duty; Skylanders; Just Dance), the exception being EA's games and who knows what the hell is going on between them and Nintendo.

When those sequels released and showed little to no franchise growth over the 1m userbase they initially released on, then that's when there would have been more concern.

And I'd imagine they're doing exactly the same with PS4One, especially since the Tomb Raider sequel has already been confirmed for next gen.  Hopefully not to release to the same stagnant sequel sales.

I'd imagine there is an element of milking in there too, but why not milk from where you're going to get more sales, which apparently is on the PS4One and not WiiU.  And by the way... I do realise the XB1 version is tracking substantially worse than the PS4 version, but given the supposed similarities in architecture between the two you'd have to imagine that it would be easier to port between the two of them if you're prioritising a PS4 version than create a whole separate product for the WiiU.

TR shows people do care about superior version ?

140k on PS4, 50k on One.

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

Almost 200k for TR DE, a game released less than a year ago, at full price, is a success. If this game was sold at 30$ and/or 10-20$ if you had a previous gen version, it should have sold more than 500k to profit the same..., so is obvious SE chose the right call selling it full price.

Ps4 will never have a price drop? Only the games we know about now are coming? x1 price is not dropping anytime soon. Sony has not even shown their big games yet.

Sony isn't dropping the price of the PS4 till fall 2015 at the earliest. They can't afford to take losses beyond what they already are. As I said my prediction is based on an Xbox One price drop THIS YEAR to $399.99. If they don't drop the price and keep it at $499.99 then all bets are off. Sony isn't going to announce an exclusive at E3 that is releasing this year. Expect the Order to be the only big AAA game launching this fall, unless they show some Uncharted gameplay soon.

Halo is not 2014....Can I have your time machine seeming yuo know how everything in the future is going to go, and what games  sony has to annouce, Sony WILL have more for 2014. MS is not gonna drop the price and lost money, they never with 360, they won't with x1. They need x1 to be a profitable venture. I heard all last gen how MS could afford to undercut the price, never happened, and it won't now.

MS didn't drop the 360's price because it was kicking the PS3's ass. Only reason PS3 sold as much was because of Japan and certain parts of Europe. PS3 was dominated in NA. This generation is different and MS will not want to give up its biggest market.  No Sony will not announce a new AAA IP at E3 that will release this year. You can count on that. Only AAA games you will get this year will be Infamous, The Order and a slim chance of Uncharted but I'm betting 2015 for that as well since we haven't seen anything of it.  Titanfall, Sunset Overdrive and a Halo game are already confirmed for 2014 for Xbox One. Can I have your time machine since you know that MS won't announce more games at E3 this year?

Kicking ps3's ass??? on what planet? Ps3 sold better weekly and yearly then 360 every year since 2008........................ Only reason 360 sold as well as it did ws Us and UK, works both ways, and a year head start.Doesn't matter where sales come from,a  sale is a sale. Sony is announcing new IP's some have already been rumoured on GAF, please sony never has nothign new at e3, thats dilusion. In fact even at 600 and 500 ps3 had a bigger first year and launch then 360 did.

The halo is halo 2 HD, not halo 5, not going to do much.

Ms never dropped the price because they are not going to keep throwing money at xbox for the sake of it and lose money, period.
