Forums - Sony Discussion - PS4 questions/concerns

This is what I needed. I've flip flopped between an Xbox One and PS4 for months.

PS4: I own a Vita, it's cheaper, it's more powerful

Xbox One: I actually liked Kinect, I already have a Gold subscription, I like the games more

I'm probably gonna end up with both. Certain advantages for each (install speed, etc.) don't matter to me in the least. Anyway, if you have PS4 answers, I got PS4 questions. Some are in the OP but I'll ask again, anyway.

-PS4 web browser: Is is a HUGE improvement over the PS3 because the PS3 browser is kinda unusable for me right now.
-Can I copy video/music/pics from an HDD to the PS4 and play them from that? I do that with my PS3 a lot.
-Do digital games like Flower roll over to the PS4 or is that a different purchase completely?
-How good is the Vita Remote Play? Hopefully better than the PS3. I want to play Tomb Raider in different rooms of the house.
-Does it ever overheat or any other technical issues? Freezing, resets, disconnects

- Web browser is much better than ps3's browser. And a minor thing such as pressing R2 to enter works perfectly on the ps4.

- NO

- Yes. I purchased Flower, Sound Shapes, Escape Plan on my ps3 years ago and they all rolled over FREE to my ps4.

- Remote play is great in the home. With a strong enough router, you can even go outside and use remote play. I work in manhattan and I use it via starbucks allot (which has free wi-fi) and also via wi-fi at the office. I works great. If your internet speed is around 15/5 Mbps, you should be fine. The one thing I do hate though is the pre-set button config on Need For Speed Rivals via remote play on the Vita. It needs custom settings option to be released.

Thanks for the answers, guys. I have the money and I have a week off from work starting Wednesday. If I don't stumble across a new girlfriend, I'll probably buy one. Leaning towards the PS4, now.

How did you do that? I knew I missed something, I bought critter crunch, dead nation, FF7, FF8, Super Stardust and a few others a while back.

So there's still nothing about photos and videos? I really miss that.

Other question : it seems I can't modify my avatar from the PS4, is that normal?

It only works for certain games. If there is a PS4 version of a game that you purchased on PS3 or Vita, then you get the PS4 version for free. It's called CrossBuy I think.

Thanks for the confirmation on the FB linking, any idea why such basic features are missing? Did they rush it to beat MS?

I guess they have limited resources and prioritized the gaming features for release. A lot of these other non-gaming features like MP3 and media server support will probably come in future updates. It's a little disappointing that the PS4 lacks a lot of features that the PS3 has had for years.

Glad I'm not the only one that thinks that. I hope they don't make us wait too long for it, it would be ridiculous for this system not to have the basic features that almost every modern device has.

There is plenty of room for improvements via software updates.
