Forums - Nintendo Discussion - What are your thought's on this Gamepad thing for the Nintendo Wii U?

The gamepad is the only thing that makes it original.

Oh I actually do like the d-pad on the controller. It's one of the best d-pads for a console.

-heavy
-gamepads analog sticks are short and the tension is way too high, which makes games like need for speed difficult to control
-horrible battery
-SD screen, at minimum, Nintendo should of put 720p on it.
-Resistive touch screen, makes using the screen with both thumbs at the same time impossible, waste.
-sound volume on the gamepad is EXTREMELY low.
-dpad placement is horrible

-edit cannot turn off screen while streaming movies without a wiimote, wierd.  Does not auto turn off.

-Gamepad mode- sometimes you'll have major lag.  Probably due to interference but Nintendo should of took this into account.

The sound of the gamepad is actually very loud, for me anyway, and you can turn off the screen through the home menu controller options.

I'm glad to know you feel this way. Now I know to add you to my list of people who are full of buuuuuuuuull shit.

I love the gamepad. I bought the Wii U because I was excited about it, and Nintendo Land just made me even more excited for what the gamepad can do for gameplay. Off TV play comes in handy now and then, I love the effects on inventory management, the different control types and multiple screens allow for really interesting and unique co-op experiences, asymmetric competitive multiplayer is just flat out more interesting than symmetric competitive multiplayer as far as I'm concerned, and web browsing is so much better with a touchscreen controller.

there would be one big problem if they sell the wii u without the gamepad. What should they do with the games which are already available ? You can not play ZombiU without the gamepad. There would be no inventory. you could not play all games in Wii Party U. no I think the gamepad is a good Idea, nintendo just needs games which can show the potential

they use this thing called patches if they wanted to.

OT its ok, i dont hate it but i dont love it. its just ok. the only thing i dont like is that there can only be one used per system but thats more of a HW issue

how about debunking his claims instead of saying hes full of shit, cause otherwise you look like the one who is actually full of it and just defending something that might be true although negative which is probably worse.

Yes, they should also patch in the ability to turn the damn screen off as well. I love the gamepad, but the fact that while playing NSMB with two people, I can't turn off the gamepad screen to save battery life is beyond puzzling. Wanna watch Netflix? Better sit that bitch on the charging dock cause you can't turn off the screen!! It's annoying and makes no sense. There should be a hardwired button on the thing imo.

Oh, and why the hell can't I use the gamepad and wii remote for two players? Another head scratcher. I have two wii remotes and a gamepad. I SHOULD be able to play three players. But NOPE, the gamepad can only be used in one player mode for NSMB or NSLU.  Ugh....
