Is Camping a Legit Strategy?

Yes 55 45.83%

No 32 26.67%

Only with a sniper. 29 24.17%

Only if you don't know the game yet. 3 2.50%

Total:119

Yea, it is a legit start and no one has the right to tell people how to play the game... If they are scrubs and all they do is Camp, so be it! Who cares if they got no skills, people have no right to tell people how to play games...

Well... its basically like when I knife someone while I am a sniper back in mw2 days and the 12 year old yells like a girl on her period saying "You are a sniper, you can't knife people you bastard." which is annoying as fuck And I am like "Go back to elemantary school you 5 year old whore" and etc... People should be allowed to play games anyway they want because it is their purchase and they spent the money to be able to play like that... I just hate when people try to control things that they shouldn't be allowed to control

Shouldn't be hard for the game maker to put countermeasures in place to prevent camping. Like if someone gets more than 2 kills within a spawn point an indestructable gun turret appears for 1 minute that kills all enemies as soon as they break cover even slightly (i.e. to take a shot). And if you get killed by a turret then you lose XP or something. Or there's an incendiary purge wave that shoots out 360 degrees from a spawn point if more than 2 players die within the spawn area and no matter whether you're behind cover or not you die.

OTOH, in real life, if you can surround an enemy LZ and take them out as they arrive then that's the best tactic to win your battle right? Kill the reinforcements as they arrive and before they can organise themselves. That's what camping is. If you're team isn't good enough to prevent camping then perhaps the campers deserve to be in that dominant position.

There's a problem with your analogy , with a real life LZ  you have the option of being able to clear the LZ before you land .

Research shows Video games  help make you smarter, so why am I an idiot

Camping is one of the possible correct tactics for a real life sniper. But in real life the world is far bigger and it's more difficult to predict where enemies will come from, except through unavoidable narrow passages, and in real life there aren't spawn and respawn points, so it should be up to devs to allow realistic camping but preventing its abuse against spawning and respawning players.

Yes it is legitimate. Especially if a game is encouraging it by gameplay elements or level design.
If the game designers do not want this behavior there are numerous ways to encourage moving or discourage camping. So if there is a game with lots of campers, the game devs meant it that way.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

They camped in the US the previous generation with the 360. lol

Yeah. Why would it be ilegitimately? Because it annoys a lot of people?

I think it depends on the type of game and type of camping. But Spawn Camping/Killing is very very annoying if done to you.

It definitely is, but it's kinda the developers job to make these things impossible. Telling people not to do it isn't gonna stop them, people know that it's a cheap tactic and that people are considered assholes for doing it, if you still do it then you just don't care what other think about your playstyle.

Infinity Ward with COD4 and MW2 made it difficult to camp because there were so many different ways to get to any spot on the maps. Regarding spawn camping, Halo made it a strategy to control the other team's spawn when you're ahead. Not necessarily camping it but making sure they dont spawn behind you and then call out that spot for your team. That's one of the things Halo 4 kept intact.

I've never camped so hard as I have on MW2. Claymore re-ups with Scavenger perk made it possible to have two out at once covering two entry points while I'd be picking dudes off out of windows and shit. If they destroy the Claymore, guess what, I'd know they were coming. If the Claymore kills them, scoop up another and replant. It was so unfair combined with a 5.1 headset.  Black Ops was the Camera Spike.

Anyway I love to camp on MW games but never on Halo. The hate mail I receive is precious, that's when I know I'm doing it right :)

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

I don't camp in every game, but camping in COD is the best strategy. Some people get butt hurt and say it's noobish. But what works, works.

I remember it being a problem in World of Warcraft too. Sometimes it just someone being clever. Other times it an unlovable person finding the only way to get noticed in the world by ruining other people's good times. Those people suck.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.
