Forums - Gaming Discussion - The Order 30 FPS - Why are some people jumping on this?

There's always the choice between 30 FPS and 60FPS. Always, for any platform ever (since the option to output 60 FPS was there).

I can imagine an experiment where a studio just builds and optimizes a game exclusively to run on a pair of Titans in SLI with CPU and RAM and everything else to match, with a target resolution of only 1080p and they would also have the choice of 30 vs 60 FPS.
At 60 FPS the game would look unbelievable and do unbelievable things, and still at 30FPS the game would look better and do more unbelievable things.

You were not here, but there is was one user by the name of Vgking (this was before the ps4 reveal) that would constantly come into Wii U threads and blabbed on how the Wii U was not gen because the games were not 1080p and 60fps. I was a lurker back then so I can't find the exact thred but some sony fans  (4-5) agreed with him.

Are you sure it was VGKing?

That said, Im pretty sure VGKing is still around here

I'm pretty sure it was him or it could be a case of mistaken identity. If it wasn't then I apologize, but I will stick to my guns and say it was him.

Your over thinking the situation like many others around here ...

Well, we know his stealth-edit skills

People have been making a big deal about cross-platform games that needed to be scaled down in some from on XB1 from PS4 (lower res or lower fps).

The developer has stated that they decided to do more effects, and add more bells and whistles, rather than stick to 60fps (which they could have).

But this game is obviously an exclusive. So the people calling those people 'hypocrites' for supporting this (which their not since this isn't cross-platform) or those saying that PS4 is weak because of 30fps (a creative developer decision), simply have no legitimate argument.

And to the few [outside of the context of cross-platform scaling] that go off on 30fps because they think that a console is weak if it isn't doing 60fps, they also have no legitimate argument. I'm imagining if Shadow of the Colossus had been 60fps and looked like shit otherwise. I'm glad they had a lower [and admittedly shotty at times] frame rate and kept the visuals to a high standard. Same goes for this game, whether or not I end up playing it.

Since it was announced the Order was 30 fps, I saw numerous people jumping on this fact, but why? It makes zero sense, is this what the console war has come down to? The reason it was brought up before was not because 30 FPS was terrible but because when the same game was on both platforms one was 30, the other 60 and yes 60 is better, it is pretty simple to understand, so why did people latch unto 30 FPS? This is an exclusive, it would probably be 720P on x1, but that is irrelevant, it is not on x1. There is no comparison to make here.  The onyl time it has really been brought up before was in multi-plats when it is on both systems.

First of all, nice stealth troll against the Xbox One there.  I'm SHOCKED you were banned.  Second, to answer your question, the same thing was done to Xbox exclusives too.

For example, Ryse was railed for being sub 1080p (which The Order is too, btw).  Another game, Forza, was railed for an [alleged] image quality reduction in order to maintain 1080p/60.  Both similar scenarios to The Order (meaning, a dev finding the balance between IQ, framrate, and resolution).

Fanboys will be fanboys, but it shouldn't come as a surise that it works both ways.  It's all childish IMO, and I think the Order looks great so far, but lets not pretend it's one sided bashing.

Because this gen only the good games are 1080p and 60fps anything else is trash

My prediction: Frame rate or resolution debate of the order 1886 will vanish after February 18th, 2014. It will be awesome. Just wait.

Because things get more or less important depending on the fan boy convenience. Back in ps2 era, being the most powerful didn't matter. In the previous generation, selling the most didn't mean being the best (wii sucks, doesn't it?)

I wish we could all sit down and enjoy the games. One of two games I enjoyed the most in previous generations were wii games: monster hunter tri and mario galaxy. They didn't have the best graphics. Halo is a lot of fun, God of war series is amazing.

LOL fanboys will never quit on either side.  But I too hope the reveal (I am assuming it's 2/18) is awesome.  This + infamous are the reasons I might pick up a PS4 this year.  That and anything potentially shown at E3.
