Forums - Sony Discussion - PS4 LEADS 64.6 PERCENT BOOST FOR GAMES DIVISION

The games division saw a 64.6 percent boost in sales over last year, thanks to the PlayStation 4's strong launch and a weakened yen. Sony's mobile products and communications division, which included PCs until now, saw revenue increase 44.8 percent year-on-year powered by a "significant increase in unit sales of smartphones." The home entertainment and sound division saw a 24.8 percent lift in revenue on improved LCD TV sales; Sony is now splitting off its TV business as a subsidiary and will concentrate on high-end and 4K models.

Hard to tell because MS doesn't have a single gaming division, they lump the Xbox together with some other stuff.

Sony! Sony! Sony! :)

Hirai! Hirai! Hirai! :)

Cerny! Cerny! Cerny! :)

MS doesn't have a gaming division, it's the Products division that includes everything XBox related, other hardware (keyboard, mouse, headsets) and Surface devices, so you would have to find separated data for MS and I believe they didn't share it (Sony did a similar thing some years ago when they merged gaming divisions quarterly reports with other divisions, but in MS it's a single division and looks like it will remain this way).

The comparison you could do is with Nintendo, but I don't know if Nintendo financials will include merchandising, toys and other unrelated products (and if it counts as "gaming profit", since it's just gaming related and we all know that any Gran Turismo movie income will end in the Sony Pictures division).
