Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony says enough is enough, to cut 5,000 jobs, split off PC, TV operations

Anything that keeps them in the gaming and smartphone business is good to my ears... always favored PS consoles, and ever since Nokia self-destructed, I favor Sony phones

And the internet says Nintendo is doomed.... Sony is in way deeper trouble than either of its competition.

Estelle and Adol... best characters ever! XD

About time. They should be focusing more on tablets and phones as that's where the future is headed.

Though it is a shame because they really did (imo) make the best T.V's.

The spun off TV division may well continue to "make the best TVs".
Especially if it's debts and costs are reduced, possibly via courts, it could instantly be more profitable,

and a Korean/Chinese brand may want to buy it, keeping Bravia as high end line but using it's tech in lower end models as well.

But according too Kaz they're planning on focusing on premium 4k tv's - so basically none that any reasonable person can afford.

Sony's TVs long have not sold well because people can't afford them or there is not sufficient perceived value for th cost. Nothing new. They do well in the portion of the market that does want that though, so no reason to cede that market segment.

Samsung is easily the best producers of tv's.

I'll buy a Sony TV and leave it in it's box never to be turned on. In 50 years time it will be worth something.

There's no stopping Samsung (and LG to a lesser extent) in electronics industry atm.
