...really the only thing i do on my home laptop is internet.  internet for vgcz.  internet for news, email, porn.  internet for music.   so the only reason i narrowed my search to mac/windows is because my wife has a digital SLR camera that has to hook up via a computer.  i'd be fine putting pics directly onto our external storage but i kind of just assumed chromebook wouldn't be able to interface with this kind of more obscure task.  i know my father in law's golf gps can't even do mac it.
