Forums - Gaming Discussion - "Nintendo has won gen 9!" - The fantasy world of Nintendo fans (vs. the sane Sony fanbase)

It seems to me that every day there is some Nintendo fan talking about Nintendo's Generation 9 console. Are you serious? Eight generation has BARELY begun (I consider the gen started only when all consoles are released) and you're talking about the Wii U's successor already? That can only mean all of you have already given up on the Wii U and couldn't give two shits about the system.

And then you compare that to the Sony fanbase. Waaaay back in 2006-07, when the PS3 was struggling, Sony fans were optmistic. "They will deliver the games, I'm sure!". Nobody, I repeat, NOBODY, was talking about the PS4 already. No, they were talking about Resistance, GoW3 (which we all knew would come), MGS4, Uncharted... Not speculating how or when the PS4 would come. The PlayStation fanbase couldn't care less about the successor yet, they were interested on the games for the current system. And Sony delivered it, and the PS3 has an extremely strong library with excellent first-party titles (some of the best of the gen!). Now, the Vita is a dying system, but PS fans are NOT arguing that Sony will turn the tables and win the next handheld generation: they know it's a dead system, most likely Sony's last handheld and that's it.

Nintendo's fanbase on the other hand, seem to live in a fantasy world (third-party devs are obviously evil and hate Nintendo, the personification of goodness). Instead of worrying about the games NOW, they create a million scenarios for Gen 9, all of them where Nintendo wins the gen. Forget that, Nintendo has already won the ninth generation! Fusing handheld and home console is GENIOUS. Never mind the fact we don't know if that's what they're actually doing or if it will work at all. Nintendo fans already want a new console by 2016.

Why don't you care about the present instead of having crazy and absurd ideas about the future?

There is NO 'sane' fanboy base... neither are Nintendo's fans nor are Sony's or Microsoft's.
just accept that.

...mark my words

Oh shit, I didn't realize I was automatically subscribing to that mindset, thanks for including me!

Are you serious? Are you actually, through and through, serious right now?

I must be the only one who saw the piles of "PS4 WINS GEN 8 CONFIRMED" threads months before it's release, then. Pushing one fan base as the "crazay!" ones and then setting up another as "sane" is just ridiculous.

I am a Nintendo fan and I don't care about Gen 9 at all atm... Smash Bros is coming out, X is coming out, Beyonatta is coming out.. MK8 is coming out and many others as well as e3 announcements so I am very excited about the wiiU's library in 2014...

With that being said... I still think what Nintendo should do in the 9th generation is have 2 sku's with the same architecture, just the mobile one is less powerful... Combining both still seems to much of a risk on my eyes because if that one fails, then Nintendo will lose way too much money. But we will see how it turns out

E3 confirmed it would have no DRM, and would be $399, against the One's use of DRM (at the time) and $499

And with the Wii U struggling, it was pretty easy to predict that PS4 would sell a lot. But Nintendo has won Gen 9 because of... nothing.

You should name names instead of calling out all Nintendo fans. I'm sure it's only a select few who are saying this.

I also remember when the PSVita was set up to take down the 3DS. You are fighting an up hill battle with this thread, there are too many examples to be set up against you. Stop making these claims. Your thread would've been much better if you just criticized Nintendo fans for focusing on the future (which isn't completely true, still) instead of comparing them to the Sony fans.

Brace yourself

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

Wow needed a laugh today thanks artur
