Needles "Sweet Tooth" Kane wants to know.

When it comes to vehicular car combat games, there have been a decent amount of entrees in the genre like Twisted Metal, Vigilante 8, and Carmageddon. but i have realised that Twisted Metal: Black is not only considered to be the best Twisted Metal but it is also regarded as the BEST vehicular car combat game EVER created.

So what do you guys think is the best Twisted Metal? Do you agree or disagree that Twisted Metal Black is the best Twisted Metal?

Also, explain why you think a certain Twisted Metal is the best.

Needless "Sweet Tooth" Kane is awaiting your answer

Edit: If i was new to the franchise and i wanted to get into the franchise, which game would you recommend

I used to play 4 with my cousins all the time and I have the most memories with it so gotta go with 4.  Idk if its the best, but its my favorite.

2 is the one that often gets named as objectively the best, but it's quite dated. Available on US PSN for fairly cheap if you want to try it, though.

My favourite is Black. Still feels modern enough and is a lot of fun. Be warned, though - if you buy a European copy, the game is massively censored to the point where the game doesn't make any sense because so many cutscenes have been cut. I had to watch on youtube to get the full picture.

3 & 4 are supposedly trash. We got neither of them in Europe.

The new Twisted Metal is alright, but don't play it for the single player. If you intend to play split-screen or online, however, then it is absolutely tonnes of fun (now that they've fixed the online issues, at least).

The first was good but it was the first of it's kind and was limited in terms of stages, special attacks and features. The second was by far the best. It has more characters and better attacks, more stages and the engine and controls were great. The third and fourth went to a different studio with a new engine and I couldn't get into the 3rd one having played the second for so long. The 4th was a improvement but not as good as two. Small Brawl was alright, different with them being remote controlled cars but meh.

I haven't played the most recent entry, Black was ok but I didn't like the storyline.

I played the two first tm game as well as black, black is my all time favorite tm game yet.

I always thought that Twisted Metal 2 was just the best on PS1 and the most popular overall

The newest is probably my favorite, I loved the colorful level design and variety in multiplayer. The storylines were good too, I just wish there were more of them. Only having 3 main characters was a big letdown.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

I don't remember much of Black, but I remember liking 2 quite a bit. I also enjoyed Head On for the PSP.

Twisted Metal 2, Black, or Twisted Metal for PS3.

The stages are the best in these three games, but the newest one has far better stages than the rest. Twisted Metal for PS3 gives you the full stages which are best for 16 person matches, but the game gives you smaller versions of the same stages with relocated pick ups if you're using a fewer amount of people or you want a more confined match. All of the games have multiple shortcuts to different areas of the stages.

Twisted Metal 2 and Black have better designed vehicles in my opinion. Twisted Metal for PS3 the specials have been reworked and there are a lot of specials that feel too similar, especially considering vehicles like Kamikaze and Crimson Fury or Death Warrant and Road Kill are mostly the same, with Crimson Fury and Road Kill being the better versions of each.

The newest Twisted Metal set the ice, shield, mine, and fire behind to your left digital pad, you can do turbo in reverse, each vehicle has two specials, and in the case of Road Kill there's three because of the mines. They've added weapons like the shotgun which does more powerful close range and max damage 60 if right on them at the front windshield. The sniper rifle which will target the body of the car, tire, gas tank, and finally a head shot for an instant kill so long as if you can maintain view of the vehicle during that time, but have to start all over if loses aim then regains sight of them.

The online on Twisted Metal works now. Only took them six months, but it's also not ideal. Sometimes in death match, you might come across people who team up together, and if it's not the netcode, there's also some people I feel use lag switches(and as small as the community is now, that's a disappointment.) The only thing you can guarantee is that when you get online, you are more than likely not going to come in first place, more than likely not going to even be close to that. The people who still play on there, the ones that are good, are actually very very good. This isn't just based on "these guys are getting first here and there," this is based on a lot of really good techniques that these players follow and they get first each and every match, and not because they're cheating.

I never played 3/4/black, but of the other 3, 2 was leaps and bounds the best, I was so disappointed with the newest one, oh well.
