Anywho, it would never work. One company would end up overtaking another and the games/hardware/public image/whatever would never be the same. Humungous mergers like this nearly always make sacrifices.

No thanks, I don't want virtually the same controller over and over again and being friends with Sony fans? Oh gawd the horror!!! (jk) The only way I am on board is if Sony designs the hardware and Nintendo designs the controller and handheld with some of Sony's influsence (such as the triggers but stay away from everything else)

In any case, competition is good for the industry... Two gaming giants combining into one will have monoploy over the gaming industry, not that it matters to MS cause they can buy both of them

Of course. You can't please everyone, which is why things are fine staying the way they are. The PS4 is nice, but I much prefer the 3DS to the Vita. Others prefer the Vita, of course, which is fine too. Having a choice is nice.

I suppose this poses a problem for people who like Nintendo games but dislike Nintendo hardware, and for people who like Sony hardware but don't care for Sony's games. But again, you can't please everyone.

No, not ever.

Nintendo has always pushed innovation in hardware and gameplay, and have always brought the most unique and varied gaming experiences to Nintendo consoles. Add to that that they often release their games at a lower price point.

Sony has lacked in in these 2 areas for many many years now.

This kind of merger would hold Nintendo back.
