Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Titanfall Will Change Gaming

Honestly, I think it's all just internet and fanboy hype. It's really just a COD clone with Mechs and it doesn't even have singleplayer.

If that's the future if gaming then I hope it tanks. We're getting way too many clone games as is.

Having AI in a multiplayer game doesn't change gaming.

Especially when its not engaging AI and is only there for cannon fodder.  I have to say, this game went from a reasonable amount of hyped to OVERHYPED in the past few weeks, especially when in reference to the One.  There's no denying that this game will probably end up fun, but to act like its the 2nd coming of the gaming Christ, when it basically boils down to COD with mechs?  People are going a little overboard here.  Which is kind of funny, cause it will probably sell the same amount, or more, on the 360 that it will on the One.

Oh jesus...the guy who wrote the article hasn't even played the game...He makes some pretty big assumptions as well.

He assumes that only having 6v6 multiplayer is somehow going to get rid of all of the crappy teenagers that play FPS online.

He assumes that only a small part of the market still wants a single player campaign and that people only view it as a training ground for online.

The article is also filled with "I don't know" and "I could be wrong" which really doesn't help him come off as someone who knows what he's talking about.

He also calls anyone who doesn't like the 6v6 player count "ignorant fanboys"

I hope the person who wrote this article doesn't do this for a living. He's awful.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

i dont care if it changes gaming or not everyone that has played it says its fun and it looks fun which is all i care about

It will fail without a good single player campaign.

Ohh, shut up (sorry, but I'm really sick of this argument)

This is so stupid, CoD and Battledfield sell millions upon millions of copies every year, do people seriously believe that those games are so successful because of their "good single player campaigns".

Titanfall will be hugely successful, people should better start believing that and with that success it will encourage other publishers to also release multiplayer only $60 retail games. That is btw also the only way I think it will change gaming, not that whole AI (aka cannon fodder) thing.

Good grief, was that written directly by EA?

He hasn't played Titanfall, yet he's certain it's "wonderfully balanced and poised online play that caters to every type of FPS player"? That "Respawn have obviously found the ideal equilibrium between humans and AI"?

No, we don't know if any of that is true.

First of all, we won't know if it's balanced for quite a long time. A lengthy Beta will help but that never, ever locates every balance issue. Pilots and Mecha being so fundamentally different will make balance tweaks common, most likely. There will be a configuration that's over-powered at launch and another that's the weakest at launch, that's inevitable.

As for online play that caters to everyone, we shall see. Pilot combat seems way to twitch for me, I have very little interest in that. Mecha combat seems a bit more strategic but it's way too soon to tell.

Blind hype articles like this do more harm than good.

That was the longest “please buy and XBOX One” infomercial I have ever read. Titan Fall will CHANGE GAMING is a little much dude, it will be a good game at best. Let Microsoft''s marketing department try sell their system you don't have to. Microsoft pays people for phony reviews and at least those people get $$$ for stuff like this.

if thats the case shouldnt we give credit to shadow run, mag, UT, starhawk and warhawk...

I think they're overhyping it *just* a bit.

This right here should be the mentality. Mindsets like this pretty much keep it real. Titanfall may change everything or it may change nothing and be just another shooter at the end of the day but who really gives a damn as long as it's fun? This rampant hyperbole creating a near divine image of games that haven't even released yet is mindless and irresponsible. It creates unrealistic expectations that end up hurting the game because people looked at it for what it wasn't instead of what it was as well as even help supply a game with a ton of sales when it might not even deserve it.
