We cant blame them for enforcing DRM and they operate to make money.

Yes we can, and we should too. DRM is purely against our rights as consumers, and if those companies don't think about our rights or interests any more than they have to to sell the products, we don't have to think about their interests or rights either. And as you said, they operate to make money so we should operate in the way I just described. Companies don't feel pity for us and we shouldn't feel any for them, either. Those companies have more than enough power to defend themselves if need be, they don't need us consumers to do it for them.

DRM targets used games and piracy. Both follow pretty much directly from a bad price model. Games cost way too much, offer too little value, and practically every non-indie game costs the same, no matter the production costs or the value of the game as perceived by customers. No wonder customers are unhappy about the situation. There would be so much less need for any DRM if gaming companies priced their products properly and learned how to handle their game budgets properly. Basically DRM is what gaming companies are trying to use as a bandaid against a much larger problem of the industry.

They damaged their own brand. They didn't damage the others in any way.

Many of my friends or collegues think PS4 also blocks used games and this is the reason they have NOT purchased PS4.

Edit:*NOT

So they are terribly misinformed.

They are usually misinformed. These people are "average joe" of gaming. They are not active in video gaming websites like us.

Are these friends imaginary or do they really exist?

So someone told them all consoles were banning whichever and whatever. If this is a close knit circle of your friends, maybe one of them told the others. Could be as simple as that. I have never run into someone thinking any DRM stuff about any console other than the Xbone.

So when we are talking about people, are we talking about like a total of two different people? Or are we talking about 200 people? Just a little hint, there is 7b people in the world. roughly 8m+ owns PS4/XBO and they are the two fastest selling consoles of all time.

With that said the numbers really speaks for themselves. My guess, is the "average Joe" gamer didnt even know about the original DRM policy because as you mentioned, theyre the "average joe". The ones who did know are far few and in between.  If they havent figured it out by now they will as soon as they step into any gamestop where it says USED GAMES right abouve XBO and PS4

And as far as DRM goes, its in the past so leave it there. MSFT obviosly didnt go through with it and listened to fans, or console war propaganda depending on which way you want to look at it. Focus on now rather than focusing on the past and maybe youll find out some of your answers.

Most of them are office collegues.

Even though MS started it I think the media should take the bigger part of the blame. They are as much of a shitty communicator as MS is. Blowing up every negative thing but fail to report the good stuff like the reversal.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

I agree with the majority of posters here. A few people do not equate to the general population. Also, I don't see how MS plans affected Sony and Nintendo in a negative way. You have seen Sony's sales right, for the PS4? I think they'll actually doing pretty good...

I don't see how MS bringing Western influences into the console market a bad thing?
If shooters are more successful than JRPG, who's fault is that?
If it wasn't for MS a dusty PS2, would've been my last console.
