Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Emily Rogers: Ubisoft won't comment on Wii U version of Watch Dogs

Companies do this for some reason, they won't comment about a game and miraculously appear, like COD Ghosts on Wii U. *GASP* It probably has something to do with money.

I think it's still coming. Ubisoft probably noticed that when that German site took WatchDogs U off preorders jumped like crazy, they might be just trying to capitalize on that. Or I could just be out for lunch.

Predictions! By the end of 2014... PS4: 15 million +, Wii U: 12 million, XOne: 9.5 million!

Well, you do realize that by only buying Nintendo's games, you're pretty much proving the point that Nintendo gamers don't buy 3rd party games, therefore why should 3rd parties devote money and resources to developing for Nintendo consoles?

And if I were weighing the options of whether or not my company should release a big game on a console that is not only selling poorly at the moment but whose audience will largely ignore my game anyway no matter how much time and effort I put into it, then you're darn right I'm going to want some financial guarantees for me to make it happen.  Companies like Ubisoft aren't running charities.

Look at the games I've bought. I buy a lot of 3rd party games.

My point is if I see no AAA support, then I'm done.

If these weird rumors become truth, then I'm done. Which sucks as I've supported Ubi more than any other.

Whether they comment on it or not, it's going to be perceived negatively.

"All versions of Watch_Dogs, as we've said previously, will be releasing in 2014."

They could've said that and it would not have been taken negatively by anyone but Ninty-haters.

All versions that will be released, you mean?  The Wii U version won't be released ever.  Damn UBI Soft always hating on Nintendo.

According to vgchartz Cod-ghosts sold 120K.

how are the chances to sell more than cod+ how expensive is a port?
More than 3mio? than there is no chance for watchdogs to be profitable.

The amount of whining and bitching and crying on this site never, ever ceases to amaze me.  What a bunch of blat asses and cry babies living on the interwebs some of you are.

All this persecution and backlash, over a tweet that says absolutely nothing, towards a company that has been consistently releasing quality product for a system that it's "fans" don't even appreciate.  How rediculous.

The "I bought x and y games from Ubisoft and if they don't release Watch dogs i'm going to sell those games!" people.  Yeah, you go gf!  That will really show Ubi who's boss, or at least that you're a whiny little bitch...with no games to play I might add.

The "Ubisoft keeps boning us and delivering half assed games etc, I'm so done with them." people.  Who else has been carrying the torch and delivering as many quality games for you to play like Ubisoft has?  Rayman, ACIII and IV, Splinter Cell are triple A titles and mark my words, Watch dogs is coming...not too mention Zombi being an inventive and solid effort and all the somewhat lesser titles released so far.  Ubi is doing their fair share and then some, who else is?  Not even Ninty have the number of big quality titles like that out, and it's their system for pete's sake.  Get over yourselves and cut Ubi some slack.

The "I was gonna buy a Wii U but waiting on x or y game", or "I won't now if x or y game doesn't release" people.  Stop, stop, stop!  Just stop the bs...please.  You are just spouting nonsense.  If you have the money then Shit or get off the pot, or admit that your folks just haven't said yes to buying it for you yet.  For goodness sake, I can't take it.

I could go on and on with these rediculous statements and scenarios, the jumping to conclusions over rumor and speculation and no facts, the constant doom and gloom against the system(s) that aren't the one that person sleeps with at night.  Here's a hint...that company doesn't love you back, get a life.  The whining and crying all day long.  It's nonsense.  Cry me a damned river.  How about dropping vid games altogether, and take up a hobby that doesn't butthurt you so much.  Better steer clear of mtn biking or even fishing.  Maybe knitting and crochet is more your style.

I don't even know why I waste my time on this site and view these forums.  !0:30 in the morning and I'm already thinking about a drink to take the edge off after reading all the nonsense this site and the internet gaming culture as a whole has to offer.

/facepalm

Rage on brotha! This is actually a fantastic post!

Wow Kwaidd's post made me realize something important. He is completely right about Ubisoft, Rayman Legends was an excellent game. There is no reason to doubt them. Yes, they delayed Rayman Legends, but it was an incredible game so it was worth the wait!

I think we should all stop attacking Ubisoft and vote with our wallets. Let's all go and buy Watch Dogs the day it releases on Wii U, oh and the DLC too if it ever releases for the Wii U version.

Nintendo and its "I only buy Nintendo games" fans should be mighty proud right about now. Way to bring a system with so much potential crashing down in flames.

That's hardly fair criticism. I've bought multiformat games on wii u and they are mainly weak. Looking at the eurogamer faceoffs it shows the majority of the time wii u versions are weaker than 360 and PS3. I also have 360, PS3 and PC. The only potential the wii u has is that one of the best developers in the world exclusively develops home console games for it. So if you want those games you need there console. I'd be mad to buy something like black ops 2 on wii u (although I've done this due to heavy discounting) when the 360 version has a far superior frame rate so plays better especially as the controller is more suited to fps action. I bought Need for speed most wanted on wii u despite already having it on ps3. I went back to the ps3 version as I prefered playing it with the ps3 controller with analogue triggers. I love Sonic Racing transformed and bought it for wii u when I bought my wii u at launch. It plays well but the resolution is only 1024x576 which is close to standard definition (720x576) where as the ps3 version runs at a full 720p resolution. This resolution difference is really noticable on a projector.

In many ways I think the wii u is great and love the whole feel of the console and the operation system but when you see how it performs its quite depressing. Technically the 360 and PS3 have been far more impressive. Nintendo have totally compromised the wii u design and quite honestly they really deserve the kicking consumers are giving them. As a wii u owner I can't really recommend the console unless you love Nintendo games. It's a truly awful choice if you want decent versions of multi-format games. This was known at the beginning when the console was pulled apart and we could see the utter cheapness of its design using low cost low bandwidth memory, a very low end modern gpu and the same weak cpu architecture that has been used in wii and gamecube before.  It is absolutely no surprise such shit hardware struggles to even match even the ancient 360 and PS3. There is no point to the thing except for its own exclusive games. Any multiformat game will be better elsewhere.

This is a self-inflicted injury that Nintendo did to themselves. No one else is to blame.

I still see no reason for canceling the Wii U version so close to launch, unless, as i said elsewhere, the game itself just sucks and Ubisoft is going to short-sell pretty much every version (like Sega with Aliens: Colonial Marines)

We heard rumors earlier that Ubisoft was deliberately trying to downplay the Wii U version because Sony and/or Microsoft wanted emphasis placed on the 4-One version, so that could be what's going on here, a lack of financial incentive from Nintendo is leading to a stealth release.

Sh1nn, I defy you to start a thread that isn't negative Nintendo news.
