Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Emily Rogers: Ubisoft won't comment on Wii U version of Watch Dogs

meh

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

Around the Network

Nintendo and its "I only buy Nintendo games" fans should be mighty proud right about now. Way to bring a system with so much potential crashing down in flames.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

Quietly cancelled, perhaps.

This means Nintendo needs to pay for it or its not happening. Forget it. I following Rol and only buying Nintendo published games.

Well, you do realize that by only buying Nintendo's games, you're pretty much proving the point that Nintendo gamers don't buy 3rd party games, therefore why should 3rd parties devote money and resources to developing for Nintendo consoles?

And if I were weighing the options of whether or not my company should release a big game on a console that is not only selling poorly at the moment but whose audience will largely ignore my game anyway no matter how much time and effort I put into it, then you're darn right I'm going to want some financial guarantees for me to make it happen.  Companies like Ubisoft aren't running charities.

If the game is cancelled, then there is no way for us to buy third-party. So theres the point. If the game is missing content compared to other platforms we also own why should we buy the version with less content?

And see my point. I already decided, that Watchdogs is the last chance for Ubisoft to prove they can deliver quality enough to justify first day purchases. See about my experiences of Ubisoft games on WiiU so far.

ZombiU: Good game, but not great. Works as a launch title. But has some repetitive environments. And bugs. Even game-breaking bugs (I could avoid it, but I read it at Miiverse). I had glitches that had me made to kill my survivor, to get on with the game.

Splinter Cell Blacklist: Has great mechanics for a stealth-shooter. But a level-design more made for action. Mostly linear, without much choices. Compare it with Deus Ex for that. And Ubisoft designed a main menu (the airplane) that needs minutes to load. That is ridiculous, you have to wait upon starting the game and every time you finish a mission, only to equip yourself and choose the next mission. What was Ubisoft thinking`

Rayman Legends. Let's not talk about the delay. The game was great and the quality high, the onyl worthy title.

Rabbids Land: Missing the craziness of earlier titles, it was a big letdown. Not worth your money.

These previous titles I got all first day or early on at full prce at retail. The following two I got on sale cheap as digital download.

Assassins Creed III: I bought it a year after release as a try how AC as a series works. I got with my purchase big patches. And still the game manages to have frustrating bugs, like missing the commander in a fortress, so although IU killed everyone I cannot win the castle. Or blocking yourself in a spot without being able to come. How can this game have so ridiculous bugs?

Yourshape Fitness Evolved: Good fitness titles - and it freezes from time to time the console completely. Come on Ubisoft.

So basically Ubisoft ripped me off with mediocre quality. Especially bad are that most of the titles are buggy as hell. Nintendo still gives me the trust, that I can buy a title and expect basic quality, no frustrating stuff like these ridiculous loading times in Splinter Cell and no (or few) bugs. Watchdogs is the last title I will buy from Ubisoft expensive - if it is released on WiiU. Otherwise I might stop caring at all about Ubisoft. Such bugfests are for sure no reason for me to buy another system.

So can you explain why you address your blame to Nintendo-fans instead of Ubisoft? They want my money, but they don't try hard enough and I really gave them a chance.

The real question here is: Are fans of other consoles really so desperate, that they buy these games despite being bugfests as I explained in my previous post?

The question is why Ubisoft keeps dancing around the subject.

Either it´s been cancelled already or they´re on the fence about cancelling it, trying to figure out how to tell people about it as softly as possible.

i wouldnt bother, if some "gamers" and yes i am using that term loosely want to miss out on games out of butthurt, they only hurt themselves

your statement is partially wrong.

They hurting themselves and OTHERS who really enjoy games for games that can afford only one system.

On a side note, this also has the potential to get worst for those who buy other consoles to compensated te lack of 3rd party on Nintendo. Imagine if Microsoft and Sony both had DRM implemented and your dead against it. You would have to either ignore the games and miss out completely or accept DRM and hope you can enjoy these games later when the gen ends and thr DRM check server is no longer running.

I have Zombi U, Legends and Black Flag and have yet to encounter any "bugs" in them. Never encountered bugs in Assassins Creed 1 or Brotherhood on my PC either. Zero bugs in FarCry 2 or 3 on my PC. Havent encountered bugs in Mass Effect 3, Tekken, Most Wanted U or Sonic Lost World on Wii U. Ironically I did encounter a shadow bug in Wind Waker HD *gasp*, le blasphemy.

You seem to be desperately grasping at straws. You are the only person Ive seen who acts like Ubisoft publishes buggy crap. Though you lot always try to act like every other publisher is so far below Nintendos god like standards. No one judges Nintendo by the quality of their lesser titles like Pokemon Rumble U, Dr Luigi or Game and Wario but you cherry pick issues from every Ubisoft published game you own and try to present it as proof of incompetence. Thats retarded, sorry.

Both Legends and ZombiU make more practical use of the gamepad than any Nintendo game so far so I really dont know what quality and content you're going on about. To be frank that post sounded like someone desperately trying to find excuses for why Ubisoft and 3rd party games selling poorly.

And even when these games do have bugs, they usually arent game breaking and they get patched up very quickly. Unlike Nintendo 3rd partys have to support anywhere from 2 to 5 platforms at simultaneously. Seeing how long it takes Nintendo to produce ONE Wii U game at a go Id like to see how that would work out for them.

Long story short "bugfests" as you put it are rare, I think you've really blown Ubisofts failures way out of proportion. They happen but arent game breakers or as persistent as you try to make it sound. Battlefield 4 is the only game worthy of being called a bugfest right now, and even then many are still able to enjoy it.

Ehh, I thought the game looked interesting almost two years ago when it was first revealed. By now I'm not even curious about it anymore. Maybe it'll be good, but whatever, I can just play it on PC if I want to try it out eventually.

I agree with this. This game couldve been BIG this last holidays with proper ads.

Now is dilluted to a May release no one cares about...

Its been too long hearing about this game coming and not doing so that ive lost interest...

Good work screwing this Ubi

If it was coming they would say yes. They have nothing to lose by saying that, considering it was already a known fact.

So yeah, it's either cancelled or they're thinking of cancelling it.
