Forums - Gaming Discussion - Anyone interested in a video game "book" club?

Tagged games:

Edit: I created an official thread: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=177508&page=1#

If you're still interested, leave a post here or on the official thread. Thanks!

This is something I've been thinking about for a while.

What do you guys and gals think of a video game club modeled after a book club? Every month we'd pick a game, play through it simultaneously, and discuss it during and after.

I think it would inspire us to dig deeper into each game, help us discover and appreciate things we might otherwise miss, and add a social aspect to the game playing process.

There are some hurdles, of course -- the biggest being that not everyone owns the same systems -- but I think it could work under the right conditions.

Anyone interested? See any problems? Any solutions?

Thanks

I'm in. We would probably have to set time intervals or check in days to all post around the same time, or something so as not to spoil plotpoints for others in the group without warning.

Good luck "picking a game" in Spain >_>

Good idea. The spoiler font will prove very valuable, I think.

That is a fantastic idea! I'm in!

The main problem I see, as you mention above, is that not everyone has all the consoles which would limit the number of participants for each game.

You could choose Indie games on PC with low required specs (I assume everyone is posting via a PC at least). Not sure how popular that would be. The other issue is how long will these games be? And how much time are users going to be given to play through?

Edit- If I have time I'd be happy to participate

really cool idea, i'm not sure i could get though a game a month though unless they were specifically smaller digital releases. i mean, i do play 12+ games a month but it comes in spurts and i'd want to play some of my picks in there too.

and obviously, i'm on sony systems. multiplats are a must for this.

i'd participate on a casual basis.

Sure, count me in.

It's a great idea! But I'm not sure if I play enough to finish one game a month, not consistently at least. But I would give it a try depending on what kind of games we are talking about.
Also we could have separate clubs for each platform, that way we aren't restricted to multiplats.

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

Another good point. Not everyone plays at the same rhythm.

Maybe we should set longer time limits to accommodate people who play at a slower pace?
