Forums - General Discussion - Game of Thrones Season 4 Thread - Premier 6th of April in U.S.

Wow, how did I missed this thread!?

I really don't want to celebrate or something, now I know I mustn't lower my guard with this guy. But, I must say that I'm rather pleased:

I did want to ask something of none book fans. Did you understand what blade Tywin was having reforged and the importance of it? I often take things for granted so was curious.

Not immediately at the start but it does become more clear during Tywin & Jaime's conversation.

OT: The ending to episode two came out of nowhere. Theon was bit of a dick but feel bad for Reek. Still not sure where the Bran's storyline is going.

One psychopath goes and other continues with Ramsey.

I just realized the series are going to rush ahead of the books. It's a coin throw wether GRRM can get TWOW before April, 2016, but even if the show is eight seasons instead of seven, at least half of the ADOS material will very likely be present in season seven.

There is a small chance, though, in the case of eight seasons, that GRRM gets ADOS out between 2017 and 2018, so book purists would be spoiled for the first half of ADOS, but not the ending itself... that's fairly optimistic, though. Did any of this make sense?

Yeah, I get the sense with various threads being made now that writers are privvy to TWOW and ADOS so seasons will be mix of final four books in coming years.

As odd as it may seem the show might be well served with trimming elements of AFFC and ADWD.

That said...I miss Cold Hands.

GRRM needs to stop working on the bloody show.  Already enough concern if he will finish the books before he croaks.

Also, no spoilers

TWOW is roughly 2/3 to 3/4 completed, but given what many of us went through with ADWD could still be a while off.  I think all this show stuff has slowed him down even more as he said he writes best when he has weeks alone to do just that.

Also, that is a great gif (makes it worth the change that Jaime was at the wedding in the show).

So the changes they made to that one particular, Jaime & Cersei, scene has been causing bit of uproar and discussion. From reading around a bit it happened quite differently but as of now, Jaime is losing bit of goodwill he earned in season 3.

Even George Martin had to respond to this as people wouldn't stop bugging him. http://io9.com/george-r-r-martin-responds-to-that-controversial-game-1565762209

It's been brewing for a while, but the first two episodes of season 4 has sealed the deal for me. I'm out. This show is simply just too boring for me.

Well thanks for posting. This thread has been so dry that even your post is seriously appreciated.

I'm sorry that my sour grapes are a highlight in the thread.

When I started watching the show I couldn't get enough and the Ned Stark beheading was a true jawdropper. Since then though the show has gradually lost it's way for me. The various story lines are simply just too slow moving, and I only have interest in a few of them: The Khalesi story line started out very intriguing, but has devolved into endless walking around until the story is just not interesting. Bran Starks history is going nowhere, same thing there, started out interesting, now it's just an endless trek that I don't care about. The whole Stannis things is similarily completely uninteresting. The Starks campaign and the conclusion just tedious, and the Kingslayer and Brienne story gets more and more uniteresting the more broken Jamie Lannister gets. Favourite charaters to follow for me are now down to Tyron Lannister and Arya Stark, but the Arya saga is starting to get dreary as well. Just not enough left for me to get interested in. I have not read the book by the way.

Fair enough. No point to continue watching it if you are not being entertained on some level. I quite like the slow pace and most of the overarching storylines. It is like everyone is playing a chess match or game of Hearthstone. And yes, the card are rigged dammit.
