Oberyn died because of his own stupidity. You don't get over confident like that, when you are facing what is claimed to be the strongest man in the kingdom. I do get what you mean though.

Also, Samwell Tarly is pretty invincible.

I liked the finale, covered lots of stuff, and kind of delivered a lot. However, I'm getting tired of the cliffhangers strategy. Probably not entirely their fault as they depend on the books, but, yeah.

When you have to stab, stab. Don't hold a damn speech while that overgrown meathead that really wants to brutalise you still breathes...

Too bad, I began to like Oberyn.

I'm glad that Daenerys didn't appear that much but the few scenes she got were more than enough to annoy me greatly. I don't know if her story is told better in the books but it really feels to me like she's only gotten so far because the story wants her to, not because she's particularly bright or anything. Poor dragons.

The battle at the Wall was quite epic indeed. Felt a bit meh at first when I realised that a whole episode was dedicated to that fight but it was worth it. The giant scythe was a bit silly though, I'm pretty sure there are easier ways to stop people from climbing a vertical ice wall.

The finale was quite good overall. Some things simply had to come to an end.

Dany does come off as more intelligent in the books. Mostly because of the strategies she develops to take Astapor, Yunkai and Meereen which are pretty much skipped over in the series.

I wonder what they're going to do once they run out of books. They said it's going to be 7 seasons, but at this rate they'll need to take a few years in between so George Martin can actually finish writing his books.

They won't wait for obvious financial and cast reasons. The next season will wrap up the remaining content on books 4 and 5 and then HBO is going to rush right through it - the producers already know all the plot points of the last books from Martin.

Some of it might have been shown already with the Night's King (?) and his 12 companions when that baby was made into a White Walker, not to mention the theories who have been already cut down, as I've said on a previous post.

I'm really torn about what I'll do when it comes to that point. I really prefer to read things first and then see them on screen but with the amount of spoilers going around this show, I don't think I'll be able to wait out for the books should the show read ahead of the books.

Yup. The bad side of living on the internet age. It's just a sad irony that Martin wrote ASOIAF partly as a way to vent his frustration of so many TV scripts turned down by budget constraints, and now he'll live to see the premiere conclusion of his story on TV.

I reckon they might stretch it to 8 seasons, (I have no idea of how much content are already written). They can produce a season and a half with the books already published, and half and a half with "original" content. Damage may be less if the guy releases another book before season 6 starts.

How many books he still has to release? Where in the book are the events of the four season?

Series 1-4 are books 1-3, with book 3 being split into two seasons.  Though there are some events from books 4 and 5 that they've included already because their timing is awful.

So we've 4 books left and they want 3 seasons.Books 4 and 5 take place at the same time so they'll likely be squeezed into one season.

This is assuming GRRM sticks to 7 books, originally it was a trilogy, GRRM wrote too much and decided on 6 books instead, then for book 4 he wrote too much again, decided to split it and decided on 7 books, that was in 2004/5.  He has also said sometime after that if he felt it was needed he would write even more books.

I'm 100% sure there will be seven seasons. The main actors and filming locations were precontracted to seven seasons, after all, and HBO will hardly take the risk specially if viewership numbers have already topped and begin to decline.

If GRRM decides to write more books, then the TV series will have an ending, and the book series a different one, much like Battle Angel Alita, for instance, who had two endings. That is assuming he lives to do it - a man of his weight has life expectancy reduced up to 20 years.

Uhmm, what a mess. Anyways, we'll still have to wait, so, let's wait.
