Forums - Gaming Discussion - PS4 and XB1 too weak for last years games?

Both consoles were yesterdays technology the day they were released. The X1 does something new (integrated kinect) that no one gives a rat's ass about and the PS4 is just a PS3 with some better chips. Launch games hardly differ from their PS360 versions and still fanboys are willing to pay 400-500 dollars/euros for those machines. Well not me, this 'next generation' the Wii U is the only console that was worth buying and I will not buy an X1 or PS4 in the near future. Only when it has a major price cut and more important: SOME GOOD GAMES!

LMFAO  Thanks i needed that.

How is U worth buying if it has no games worth playing.  A 99.99 wii kart bundle and a $10 Galxy is a much better buy then anything wiiu combination.

That's just nonsense and those games can be played on wii u also. Backwards compatiblity is awesome for people that skipped out on wii or already have a great library of games.

Because it isn't last year's game. Look I just went over to IGN's site where they posted a suposedly powerful PC build for Steam OS and their $1400 PC build could only achieve an average of 30-45 fps (GTX 770 and GTX 780 Ti respectively) on last year's Tomb Raider at max settings at 1080p and that version is missing many of the updated effects found in the Definative Edition.  Granted I would have built it a little different than they did but still $1400 and struggling to reach 60 fps as well. Which is what happened on my rig when I played it, but mine is a bit older.

I am not saying that these consoles are more powerful than a high end PC but for the price they are very much in line with what a "next-gen" console ought to be.

Fair enough. That's really intersting honestly. Facts: they're fascinating things!

Maybe it's just the fault of the perception that '1080p/60fps' is a standard for things, just because it's standard for video? It really makes you wonder about 4K gaming. Maybe 4K gaming is a few years further off than 4K video.

They run them fine, one just runs them better then the other......dumb thread sorry. If you want graphics like PC, consoles would be 800 bucks.

Since when is running 1080p and averaging 50 fps not being able to handle a game?

There is no DEBATE x1 is significantly weaker, and tomb raider is not a last year game it has major enhancements like treessfx that are very demanding. please. nonsense.

The x1 might have an issue but ps4 doesn;t

Then why do you repeat that much?

I'll stop repeating it when people stop posting fud trying to downplay, say there is little or no power gap.

The problem is simply that too many PC gamers can afford GeForce Titans and the like. New software has turned away from originality to same old stuff but graphics whores simply because it is easier to do prettier graphics than work out better ideas. Both consoles are good enough for showing good games with good graphics. Unfortunately many folks have that strange notion that consoles should compete in the high-end graphics department. Add to that the ever growing numbers of young wannabe-journalists on the internet who have never seen an origial game and you have the recipe for "consoles are lame"..

But the most important thing are games and for the moment in that X1 wins

ahhh the classic If if mines is crap so is yours. Whats the point in arguing over what console is least shitty?

Thats what this thread looks like to me. Dumb thread to be honest. Now show me the specs of a PC that runs tom raider at 1080p 60 fps with all the bells and whistles. Then price it up. Cheers.

If it were possible to make a PC as limited as consoles I am sure someone would but as it stands a PC can do a lot more than a console so of course there will be a price difference.

Its like asking an auto maker to make a car the same price as a motorcycle while keeping every aspect of why an auto is better there. It just doesnt work that way.

Yes I own a PC. Sorry its more powerful than a PS4 and makes me see the console as a waste of money.

Make a console that can do everything my PC can and then price it up.

$500.00 will build you a mroe powerful PC than either console btw. They are using laptop parts not PC parts so they are more like nonportable laptops then PC and in that comaprison they fall even further behind in functionality

You've drifted far off topic. Although I love 'varity' myself, too.

Oh god let's not get started on 4k lol. Were looking at at least 5 years before we see 4k going mainstream. With video streaming becoming the norm and isps looking for ways to cap or charge for extra bandwidth (pay for what you use) 4k simply is to resource heavy and we'll even need a larger disc format because blu-ray as it is now can't hold it. And gaming is even further I think.

I am responding to someone, so it was actually right on topic. As for my typo what's your point?

Build it... thus lays the problem, im a consumer i want it handed to me on a sliver platter.

Building it is a big fuck that to me, all the function i want is buy it plug it in and play.  Not ponder whcih  part i should buy build it assemble it install software workout the bugs hope i didnt fuck something up and maybe finaly play a damn game.  Console is just so much easier and faster to get near instant gratification.

I "could" build a more powerfull car them most out of the factory.  But i still buy one of the dealer lot and not build it myself.
