Apple called, they said have fun missing out on ten billion a month

Apple owns the App Store, they get money from their entire iOS ecosystem.

I hope you're joking.

You are correct. Mobile gaming is just a fad, like Zynga, and Nintendo probably wouldn't be able to profit more in such a crowded marketplace compared to on their own consoles anyway.

Still, it's not a bad idea to at least consider it.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

I still think Nintendo should put their NES/SNES libraries on smartphones. They would make a killing off that. Plenty of people put emulators on their phones and tablets already, why not profit off of it?

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Wouldn't you think that the people who want those NES/SNES games already have emulated them?

Mobile isn't gaming.

Only kind of games I play these days are mobile games... Nothing like a little Temple Run or Fairway Solitaire while getting a blowjob from a hooker.

I'd love to play me some Mario while getting handies in my car. Nintendo is missing out here for sure...

While I agree mobile is not the way to go. I have to smh at your reasoning. Do you remember why Skyrim was all the rage? Well it isn't any more so by your own logic that is not a safe market to enter.

No game entertains forever. That's just not a valid reason to skip one market over the other.

People shitting on mobile gaming makes me a sad panda. If you can't appreciate games in all different kinds of forms you're not a real gamer.

OT: I think that some of points made in the OP also apply to traditional console gaming but on a different scale. Games are popular for a while and then become a distant memory for mobile and console. How many people are still talking about Gears of War? Where are all the threads about Uncharted 2? They are a distant memory, people have moved on.

With that said I think that Nintendo going full on mobile as a source of revenue is a bad idea. However I don't see the harm in a simple F2P mario platformer that is used to drum up interest in the Wii U/new Mario games.

Platinums: Red Dead Redemption, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, Terminator Salvation, Uncharted 1, inFamous Second Son, Rocket League

Angry Birds has been popular for what? 4 years now?

There are plenty of fads in the console game business too -- Wii Fit, Wii Sports, Just Dance, Guitar Hero, etc.

Mobile gaming as much as some people hate is not going anywhere. If anything more and more kids are getting introduced to their first gaming app every day. Cell phones are not going anywhere and there will always be games on them from now.

A smartphone is simply put the most important electronic in most people's day to day lives.

Nintendo fans are hypocrites on this, five years ago they were chiding Sony/MS fans for saying Wii Sports/Wii Fit weren't real games, now that Nintendo isn't the hot blue ocean brand anymore, they're using the same arguements against iOS/Android gamers.

So people can get those for free, but they are suddenly going to start paying Nintendo for them. Makes perfect sense really. I mean I love it when something goes from being free to having a fee......
