Forums - Gaming Discussion - Titanfall not a system seller

titanfall will sell some systems.

titanfall would probably sell more systems if it wasn't also on 360.

Around the Network

Titanfall wouldn't have been a system seller without being exclusiv,
but now it will.
Since exclusivity was confrirmed people who didn"t gave a shit about this game consider it now as second coming of christ.
The same people that mocked COD developers for years are now warshipping a former developer.
Even more funny:all people i know hate bots and they hate to play with or against bots, all of a sudden=no problem.
They even like the mirrors edge gameplay now.

At the same time people who gave shit about Titanfall started hating it because it's not exclusiv for their console.

= this game has potential for a mid class system seller as it already has polarised people.

2)Microsoft has advertised the crap out of kinect (500mio +) and succeeded in selling a mehmeh working kinect to more than 20mio(mostly US people)
As MS know needs a system seller to gain back momentum they destroyed last year i'll expect a similar or even more huge marketing campaign+they need to create momentum for da cloud.

3)Considering the way Microsoft& machinima used to sponsor reviews i am
pretty sure MS will do something similar with reviews. They won't pay 3.600 but 36000 to get the needed reviews(95%+)from professional reviewers.
Therefore i predict superowerwhelming ratimgs(first 10reviews 99% average)similar to the first Sim City reviews(and sim city was pretty shitty when released, even when online was working)
The same reviewers who downrate games for bad storytelling will completely ignore missing stories or ,mediocre graphics stupid bots(Considering that EA &MS are behind titanfall this is very likely to happen.

4)titanfall already has almost 3x more preorders on xb1 than on 360 and pc combined.
Your argument seems to be wrong that people will stay with 360 though i'm pretty sure 550 bucks
to play just one game without story + many many bots isn't that attractiv when you can play it on your old system.

but, finally when this game is released we will see some truth.

wether the cloud is just hype and 6vs 6 limit has nothing to do with gameplay but a lot with the 360 version as the 360 isn't able to run 30+ bots in acceptable resultiom without the AI being total crap(no cloud for 360 i suppose)

Let me guess it's 6 vs 6 on all platforms, 60fps on the 360 as confirmed by Respawn Community manager Abbie Heppe. Titanfall isn't graphically demanding either.

Is titanfall worth a $500 upgrade to me? No I'll get the 360 version.

Although, I kinda feel like a hypocrite because one of the main reasons I got a PS4 so early was because of Infamous.

You shouldn't because it's not the same situation. PS4 is your only option when it comes to playing inFamous.

4 ≈ One

It will be a system seller, but not a big one, a system seller like Infamous i would say.

Destiny will be much bigger

Halo 5 is going to be X1's system seller this year

This... All games (even crappy ones) push systems to some effect.  There are very few games that make big pushes in sales.  The big ones imo are Mario, Halo and GT.

Predicting that Second Son (PS4) will outsell Titanfall (XOne) in lifetime sales.  Click here for sales comparison thread.

someone needs to make a thread showing the percentage increase in x1 sales during titanfall's release week compared to the previous week (the week before it releases). For instance, Week before release - 120,000 ww. Week after release 220,000 ww. that's approximately 83% increase in sales.

Lets make this really easy.

Do system sellers exist?... forget context, forget degrees of success.

yes or no?

Any game that exists can be a system seller (even if it only shifts 1 console).

So I think perhaps it's the context that matters here if we consider every single game can be considered a system seller. How much do people think it will shift consoles.

Titanfall will definately shift consoles, and it will definately do that more so in the USA who are very COD type based users. On the negative side, it's also available on PC and more importantly x360. I think COD/BF4 X360 sales have been still quite high, so it's quite possible that a good number may not upgrade.

Personally I think it may shift an extra 70-100k consoles for that week (I think it will have a big impact for one week) and then drop off... the question is how many users have already upgraded ready in advance of the game coming out. This is where it all becomes impossible to figure out :)

I also think Destiny is the more interesting game of the two, even though the Press right now are in a lovein with Titanfall. Which is a shame, because the hype for Destiny should be at least as much, if not more so.

Making an indie game : Dead of Day!

Based on posts I've seen from a single user

-The PS4 has system sellers already because people want to play Xbox360/PS3 games with the best possible performance (with games shared with the PC, no less).

-Titan Fall isn't a system seller because it's only a multi-plat with better graphics?

Am I understanding this correctly?

I think it is.

The only point that can make people not buy it is the no single-player offline.

First time I will agree with this user.

I believe it is a system seller but the lack of single player will not help it. Actually, I'm looking forward for people complaining AFTER buying it about Microsoft forcing them to play online and coming back with their DRM stuff. Fun time ahead.

It's going to move some XOs, though I think that amount will be less than some people believe. It's a new IP, it's not an exclusive, and it's trying to pry open a crowded market. I get the feeling that a lot of the CoD casual crowd isn't going to jump on it.

^^This^^

Titanfall will certainly be welcomed by the X1 crowd, and will move some hardware for those who are on the fence and are waiting for the first "big" game to hit the platform. However, TF's success as a "system seller" in the truest sense of the term will be limited since the game will also be available on X360 and PC.  For me, a true system seller is a game that is *only* available on a single platform and thus people buy the hardware just to play the game.
