That's Best Buy's problem. If they hid those 50 Xbones in the back, people would think they are in high demand too and want to buy one. Create some demand by not showing. People ain't going to buy an Xbone any time soon if they see that. They can get one any time they want.

That's stupid if people actually think that way.

Explain. Tell me how anyone would want to buy an Xbone if they saw that stack. If there was one or two consoles on the shelf, I would be more inclined to want to snag one up, before they sell out. I wouldn't know there are 100 or so in the back.

Seriously, we need to stop this cynical and horrible view of the world. Everyone seems to think their can only be one winner. Clearly the PS4 is on top, and its selling incredibly well. However, the XBox One is selling amazingly. 3 millions sold in only a couple of weeks? does no one understand what an accomplishment that is? Celebrate the success of both consoles, and then pray that the Wii U does well as well. Peoples games are still going to be made, your still going to enjoy your console, your not going to enjoy it more if Nintendo fails, or Microsoft fails.

You're right, I'm not going to enjoy it more if another fails. But don't forget that this is a video game and video game sales forum. If we don't discuss video game and video game sales, then VGC is obsolete

Do you want an one now or do you want one later? If you want one now, more power to you. You can go to the stack and pick one up. You want one later? Well, in discussions about supply and demand, you talk about the present, not the future. If people aren't buying them now (either because they don't one one or believe they can buy it later because there's plenty of stock) then demand is low.

Video game consoles aren't something you impulse buy. You don't just randomly spend $4-500. You go into the store prepared to buy that item. If I went into Best Buy wanting an XBone, I'd be buying an XBone, whether I saw 1 on the shelf or 1,000.

We are all losers if Sony dominates this generation. They will have no competition and prices will rise. Microsoft can easily drop the price if they feel the ps4 is getting too far ahead. From the VGchartz figures it appears the xbox one is doing good figures in the USA. Here in Europe the situation is more severe. Microsoft really need to drop the price considerably to compete. I guess for the moment though they are waiting to see how their new games perform.

There is likely an issue where more xbox one stock is in retail channels. It does seem demand for ps4 is far stronger than xbox one but then the ps4 is a technically stronger console at a lower price. All things considered Microsoft have done very well considering the price difference. I personally feel the xbox one price should be below that of the ps4 and wouldn't ever consider one at current pricing.

I've randomly spend that much on a game system, when I did'nt plan on doing so. I've randomly spent that much money on other things 2. lol

Problem with XB1: mandatory kinect, bad PR, and price.

No wonder no one wants these things.

Was the basis for you buying these items because you thought they were gonna sell out. If it was as random as you're making it out to be, I doubt supply issues was why you bought it, and rather you did it for the hell of it.

edit: I really do hate the HTML on this site sometimes

So when you see two washing machines in a store, you snag one up because they could sell out??? I can't quite follow your logic here..

I know I almost got raped by a store employee that tried to sell me an Xbox One back in December but those "We have Xbox One" signs were are there for people that tried to buy an Xbox One back when they were sold out. No point advertising what you don't have--the PS4. We'll see plenty of "We have PS4" signs eventually, same as with the Wii and PS2 before them.

Or maybe it's a case of "we don't have any PS4s but here's a viable alternative", which was a discussion point back in December when people were saying that it may actually help MS if Sony is so supply constrained: people will get tired of waiting and just buy an XBone.

best buy doesn't really think like that.  Did you see a lot of we have ps3 or 360 in stock signs on doors when the wii was selling out?  No.  The sign was there because it was probably a common question when the x1 was sold out so when they got them in stock they wanted to make sure every customer knew that they were there when they walked in the store.

When you've got 64 sitting on a shelf....you may think like that. And me, personally, yes I did see "we have PS3" signs when the Wii was selling out, because I always went to a GameStop  a friend of mine worked at after we both graduated HS. Granted, I was looking for a Wii because my sister wanted one for her daughter, but I did see "we have PS3" signs at that particular Gamestop.

64 systems in stock isn't actually that much for a best buy, to be honest...

If someone was looking for an washing machine and it fit what they wanted out of it, then fuck yes. I've actually shopped around for washing machines before and they go out of stock quick because they carry low quantities of each model. Supply can create demand.

You guys aren't accounting for spur of the moment shoppers. People who don't come in there with an agenda to buy right away. But of course everything is stupid, if it doesn't follow your own way of thinking or logic.
