Forums - Gaming Discussion - next dominant video game genre in my opinion

Tagged games:

this is my first thread so i'm not going to be an expert

if you think about it 3rd person open world games are the most hyped games for the next generation of consoles for eg: watch dogs, the divison, the witcher 3, etc.. are good examples in this so in a nutshell i believe 3rd person open world will be the domminate genre but i only think there's a 40% chance of this happening the reason is if gamers continue to buy cod and cod only every year

Oh... Uncharted and tlou are anything but open worlds. Maybe you didnt read the whole OP post.

No.Simple reason? There were enough great 3rd person games in the last gen and they didn't establish the genre. Well they did and there are enough of them today but it will never be as dominant as FPS. MAybe we'll see more FP open worrld games though.

Also you named Witcher a 3rd person shooter and then forgot Infamous SS?

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

I hope the witcher gets as much hype, or even more, as skyrim

The Witcher 3 isn't a third person shooter its a western RPG.

Isn't the Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor one too? It looks fun and innovative. Adding personalities and grudges to your enemies.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

I actually got tired of open world (or is that sandbox. Is there a difference?) during the 6th gen and 7th gen had some great entries like Red Dead, GTA 5, Sleeping Dogs. I don't think they'll dominate. In the past, the dominant genres were like space shooters, platforners, fighting games, fps--virtual all genres that can give you a quick fix.

And now mobile puzzle games.

GTA, Watch Dogs, and inFamous are sandbox games where you have complete freedom. Open world games are like Ground Zeroes and Shadow Fall where you're given objectives that have linear gameplay design, but can be approached in different ways... Or something like that.
