it could also be the powersupply

Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

had unigine run with HIS's factory settings after installing the latest MB chipset driver, while unigine showed me (which is weird) 5 degrees less under full load, the error still occured. gotta go with 900/1400 in CIV5 now, which causes the error only a few moments in.

(hm... i think i am seeing ghosts, but could my screen be the cause? i'ma using a HDTV after all.)

I'm a Foreigner, and as such, i am grateful for everyone pointing out any mistakes in my english posted above - only this way i'll be able to improve. thank you!

downlocking the card to 900mhz didnt help. whatis interesting though is the error message given to me by civ5 this time. playing it in windwoed mode.

You may want to do a driver rollback.

Did you install any new recent drivers that caused this ? If it's yes then doing a driver rollback may be the solution.

I have one last question. Are you sure that your graphics card is not loose at the PCIE slot ?

You will have to wait for amd's driver release. New video cards always have crummy drivers. Happens to nvidia to.Had that happen to me.

There are only a  couple of "new cards" in AMD's line-up.
Otherwise, they are all re-badges of the 2 year old Radeon 7000 series.

There is a small possibility.
The Radeon R9 270X wants 30 amps on the 12v rail, although his Power Supply isn't high-end... It exceeds that requirement by providing 38 amps on the 12v rail.
However, the kicker here is that the PSU is certified for Haswell, but don't beleive everything you read, it struggles to keep all the rails within specs.
I assume it wouldn't cause much of an issue, but I haven't personally had a chance to play around with Haswell yet.

However to the Op, we can rule out the GPU completely at this stage considering it even does it with an Intel IGP, but out of curiousity, take the GPU out of another machine and drop it in there.

i reinstalled win7 (erasing everything in the process) just a few hours ago, going only with stock drivers and getting this issue. (the ones that were on the disc.)

what bugs me is that a few people fixed the problem by increasing/decreasing voltage, however this card does not seem to allow it.

edit @ pemalite: i will do so tomorrow, i'll take my brother's 7790, which works flawlessly in his rig. thanks. :) is there a possibilty that, once the error occured a gajillion times,it is bound to happen to other cards (like the intel igp) aswell? i of course used the original intel driver testing this, but.. (it didnt happen to me using the intel IGP before using the gpu.. even though i didnt play demanding games on it at that time)

Try removing and re seating the card. I can't tell you how many completely random and unrelated different problems I have solved on built PC's (and American cars) by simply taking them apart and reconnecting every component. Also did you screw with the BiOS recently?  People who are advocates of always updating BiOS, and chipsets, and certain other things often times are wrong.  There are certain setups where you should not mess with certain things unless you are doing it to remediate some sort of problem.
