Nintendo hired a Celebrity trainer to market it, showed it off on Fox friends, and had advertisiements for it all over the place with the whole new year resolution and its code outside Stichkt. Are you a hermit?
NIntenod's been marketing you know/.

As you can tell from these incredibly accurate pre-order numbers dated December 7th, Wii Fit U's release date is actually wrong. It released around a month ago. I don't know why it's being tracked just now.
Also, as you can see, it has almost 40,000 pre-orders. 40k pre-orders + whoever picked it up in store =/= 22k.
Therefore these numbers are bad and you should all feel bad.

Actually, the December 7th release date is wrong. It was delayed, several months before that was posted.
It's also worth noting that the game was only available 2 days at reatil. Released on a Friday for whatever reason. The target audience was only Wii U owners who did not already have a balance board, so it's hard to really take the numbers seriously for now. It will be all about legs for this one.

I guess my ire towards the pre-order numbers on this site hasn't become quite apparent enough yet. Disappointing.
But yes, I know. I was just using this opportunity to bash the pre-order tracking.
People actually expected this to boost wii u sales? Really.....
This Ip was a fad and in my opinion kinda dead, time to find another casual money grabber nintendo

To be fair, I don't think any reasonable person thought that Wii Fit U was going to do much for Wii U sales in the short term anyway. Especially given how little attention Nintendo has been giving it and how little exposure it had.

I have no clue. The mismanagement of the Wii series on the Wii U is a disgrace. The only thing that they managed to (kind of) get right is Wii Party U. And that's still hardly advertised.
However, Wii Fit U's bombing was all but expected. I've seen no advertisements for the game where I live, none at all.
Theres so many reasons why this makes sense I don't even know why we are talking about it
Those who are still interested in a Wii Fit game probably already have a balance board.
You can unlock the trial version with a Fit Meter.
Nintendo even advertised the game here in Germany with Steffi Graf. I think the commercials were stopped after her father died, but it was shown on multiple channels. 3D World commercials only ran on Nickelodeon, what a bad strategy.
