Announced on their FB Page last night!

Reading around the internet apparently there's actually many people lining up at best buys LOL

https://twitter.com/search?q=best%20buy%20line&src=typd&f=realtime

This reminds me of when Wii had lines back in Jan 07 whenever it came back in stock!

Could be a twitter excerpt from the Nov release.

You go make Chad Warden proud.

No seeing as the first tweet makes mention of the Chelsea vs Man U game which was on the weekend.

Regarding the Kinectless SKU, that's fine with me as long as Microsoft rewards early adopters in SOME way.  I don't even have my Kinect hooked up still.  That being said, it seems unlikely that Microsoft will remove Kinect.  I think there is a better chance they will just bite the bullet and either lower the cost of the system or start bundling something with it.

The thing about lowering the cost of the system is that in terms of normal reduction of production cost, Sony will also be doing that.

And unfortunately, I seriously doubt that Kinect hardware can be similarly reduced in production cost: it's a bunch of lenses and such, not just chips.

So any reduction beyond what Sony can trivially achieve really means MS losing money by subsidizing it further.

That might make sense if they thought they could make more out of it by selling lots of games, but all signs are that Sony is dominating this gen,

and I don't really think that even a majorly price subsidized Kinect XBone will really be able to change that over-all picture.

It's clear that BOTH MS and Sony wanted this gen to not be losing money out of the gate, to be a more sure-thing money maker, so subsidies seem unlikely.

They knew that Sony would be cheaper for some time now, and they knew that would likely affect sale popularity, if they were going to change, they would have.

Removing Kinect, or offering a Kinect-less SKU, is a quick way to achieve that price reduction without any subsidy whatsoever.

Since Kinect is a major focus of XBone (otherwise it's just a weaker console), I think it would make sense to throw in free Kinect games with the Kinect bundle.   That at least helps it look valuable compared to PS4's Eye Camera, which is the relevant point of comparison.

MS is subsidizing (or owning) the devs creating Kinect games at this point anyways, so including some for free in Kinect bundles seems a reasonable promo.

(ideally offering several Kinect games, and including the choice of any one for free with Kinect2 purchase)

Heck, make all those Kinect games download-only, and they don't lose any on physical distribution or retailer margin, just plug in your Kinect and get your free game.

That can even be extended to original Kinect-XBone SKU purchasers, to reward their dedication... Although I wouldn't bet on that one

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

Seems like it will be March before it reaches a steady state, once the dust settles on the Japan launch.

PS4 sold sub-200k consoles last week. Are we really supposed to believe Sony can't make that many to meet demand?

According to Pach...Sony have been rolling out 1.4m PS4's per month since they started production in September....don't forget that we wouldn't have seen the first shipment of the entire 1.4m until mid Oct, so theoretically they had produced 4.2m units and had them in stores by mid December....that ties in perfectly with the sales of the PS4 up until the end of Dec.

Don't forget that the PS4 launches in mid Feb in Japan, so Sony will want to keep back a reasonable number for that launch.   I do wonder how many units Sony will keep aside for the JP launch????? 500k?  and it seems that Sony can get on average around 200k units onto the market each week, while making sure there is enough units for the JP launch.

It also seems that Sony is making a rather large push in NA over the last week or so and will continue to do that for at least a few weeks.  I wouldn't be surprised to see over 200k weekly WW for the next few weeks leading up to the JP launch...and then there will be a spike for a few weeks after that.

In short, I honestly think that Sony are getting around 200k onto the market each week on average and that is all they can manage.

Prediction (June 12th 2017)

Permanent pricedrop for both PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro in October.

PS4 Slim $249 (October 2017)

PS4 Pro $349 (October 2017)
