Forums - Gaming Discussion - Where is Street Fighter Alpha ? ? ?

Meh, my favorite will always be EX3...I know it gets lots of hate.

"Dr. Tenma, according to you, lives are equal. That's why I live today. But you must have realised it by now...the only thing people are equal in is death"---Johann Liebert (MONSTER)

"WAR is a racket. It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

Street Fighter Alpha imo was the best in the series but Capcom seems to be continously remaking and doing DLC for the Street Fighter 4 series.  I am not a huge fan of the SF4 series but I guess it's still fun.  Are we ever gonna see Alpha get revived or is capcom totally headed in the wrong direction with this series among others(Megaman, Resident Evil)?

tbh im not sure we will ever see new SF again -_-

What's the difference between Street Fighter and Street Fighter Alpha? I've only ever played one Alpha game and it just seemed like normal o.O

Differences are in the character universe, storyline, moves, combo systems, animation etc.

My favorite series is the Street Fighter 3. Third Strike is the pinacle of fighting games IMO. SFIV only got dumber and flashier.

I disagree Street Fighter 4's combo system is way harder to master than Third Strike's.  I say that actually makes the game the more "technical" fighter.  Plus abusing focus' into parrys adds another layer of difficulty to master over third strike (Parry's can be picked up decently quickly in comparison).  On the other end they made things "harder" by making things handicaps (Focus vs parry, timing combos vs button combos).

@OP, Street Fighter Alpha 3 pretty much connects to Street Fighter 2; there's not much they can add story wise.  Gameplay wise; the series has pretty much been absorbed minus air-blocks and custom combos in Street Fighter 3 and 4.

Edit: I would like to add, that I think there's still a place for 2D sprites and I would love to see another Street Fighter done this way, even as a side (let's say, turn Street Fighter EX series into 2D :O)

Yeah, Capcom has shedded a lot of their devs.  They don't have the resources for a new one.  Though I think when spaced well enough, Street Fighter can bring money to Capcom.  I just wish there was a way to for sure get the young-ins into Street Fighter.  I remember back in grade 4, you weren't cool if you didn't play Street Fighter.
