Nintendo games played with real controllers would be neat, I think they should go third party, the games will be much better, more people can play them and Nintendo fans can carry on enjoying those games on proper console's

Let's be realistic here folks. There is no reason why it would be out to left field for Nintendo to create an eshop app for ios and android and allow games from every other system or handheld, prior to the Wii & DS to be played on those said systems.

Publishing games on Xbox One & PS4 is "lord forgive me" plain fucking stupid!!!!! Even if it sells along the lines of the GC it will eventually begin to turn a profit. GC still have  45 titles that sold over 1 million. Games like Mario, Smash, Zelda and MK were all in the 3-7 million range, which in turn makes them profitable. Hell, SMW3D will be around 1.7 mill this week on a console that has only sold 5.5 mill ltd (if we add the npd difference and whatever Nintendo moved last week).

I think Patcher gets a little to ahead of himself at times (I just may have said the understatement of the year) and really needs to  think before speaking.

Good sensible post mate, i agree that seeing out the Wii U lifecycle will eventually turn a profit or at worst break even. Their main IPs are guaranteed million sellers, which can generate decent profits. We have also seen that like the Gamecube, Wii U owners have a good tie in ratio with first party software.

Thank you good sir! It would be nice for them to pull something out of their ass and at least moving 40 - 50 million (I can dream, can't I!) mainly because I do enjoy 3rd party devs like Ubisoft who have managed to create more unique experiences then Nintendo themselves (with the gamepad) and would be a shame to see them go due to lack of sales.

When you think you already saw everything from this guy...

He makes the oddest suggestion ever.

He is stupid in this regard. Once nintendo go multi-plat, people will expect them to keep being multiplat for the rest of their days. If they try to back out of multi-plat you had better believe their investors and pretty much everyone around in the gaming scene will be putting pressure on them to return to multiplat (similar to the pressure they are already under). If nintendo want to stick to console exclusivity, then they have to stick to it all the way, making sure to not put their games even on devices such as iOS or android. Or if they want to go the software route, then make their games available to all consoles. But either way a half-measure such as this will satisfy no-one and be a pretty dumb move.

I can see prob 20-25 million being moved, but they need to find a way to bring the hardware manufacturing costs down. Those numbers were ok for the Cube as it wasnt losing money per unit sold.

That said, im a glass half full person, and i still think the ship can be steadied. 2013 was a disaster but i can see better sales for 2014, its rare for Nintendo to make losses and Wii U is still young in its life. Its not the end of the world for a multi billion company to incur the odd loss, they need to learn from their mistakes and move on to better things. Nintendo are far from doomed, even if the internet would have you believe that.

Agreed. It will be an interesting time in gaming when MK8 & Smash Bros are released. That should give us a true inclination as to where the Wii U is headed.

" Rebellion Against Tyrants Is Obedience To God"

I'm starting to think the reason Nintendo has been having trouble isn't because they've gone downhill, but because the gamersphere has become overrun by idiots. And that's the sad thing about what Pachter said: he's 100% serious. He's not trolling, he thinks he's saying something smart despite it being illogical and stupid.

Michael Pachter is stupid as bread!!! :D

GO PACHTER!!!!
