Is Iwata Doomed?

Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Is Iwata Doomed?

I think it's the Wii U that's doomed. So far I think Iwata is a pretty healthy person. I don't think he is as doomed as the Wii U.

Nintendo really must start giving the gamers what they want. It is absolutely essential.
I really cannot understand how there's only a fraction of older games available on vc, but maybe I'm just mad that I cannot get metroid fusion on my 3ds.
Seriously, Nintendo, why would you keep titles out of people's hands?

All I want to do is play SNES games on the 3DS. Why does Nintendo make it so hard for me to give them money!?!?

Yes I would also like super metroid then too. Thing is, metroid fusion is ALREADY on the 3ds, but it's ONLY for those people that got into the ambassadors program. How fucking silly can you get? It would be like if Sony only allowed classic psp games on vita if you bought one day 1.

I imagine Iwata is a very healthy man who has accumulated a lot of steps on his fit meter, he is far from doomed :)

let's face it, the Gamecube, though made a nice profit, wasn't all that successful. The Wii was successful for three years and it completly petered off. Nintendo didn't maximize profits on the Wii. The DS was really great but since there were so many versions of it, the system confused people. People don't know that the 3DS is a new handheld. 3DS got off to a bad start and is finally selling a decent amount. The Wii U was a huge failure no matter which way you slice it. I hope Nintendo can profit overall on the Wii U but it still seems like it's losing A LOT of money for Nintendo to be losing money overal for the year. Shareholdas are waving their pitchforks at Iwata because he can't post profits anymore. I think he needs to retire and hand his job over to someone who is more hip with the industry. Who agrees?

Wii and DS weren't Iwata's decisions. They were the ideas of that guy who died recently. With him, all "innovations" in Nintendo consoles has died. WiiU was an attempt at mimicking the DS.

3DS was a bad name for a new console, I can see it selling less people people aren't aware that it's a new console

Heck, Iwata said he would step down if WiiU didn't sell 5 million units by the end of their fiscal year last year (March 31st 2013). He didn't......but he should.

In other words he should be doomed!!!

To answer the question nope, for the good or the bad he will go whenever he decides to do so.

I sincerely hope the smart devices statement was just to cool off investors. Smart devices are all the rage for tech companies, but it is the very last thing Nintendo would need to do. The 3DS is selling like hotcakes and the very last thing they need to do is drop it to put Mario on iOS.

If Iwata's serious about it, though, he needs to be gone YESTERDAY.

let me put it this way... 3DS just had its best year so far. I really don't think Nintendo can pull another year like this for the 3DS.

Despite all of this, Nintendo lost money.

It doesn't matter how many billions you have in cash if you don't know how to invest it. Stock price depends on future cash flows. I cant see a near future where Nintendo starts making shit loads of money again.

Big changes have to happen so Nintendo can assure its share holders their wealth will not disappear. Change in leadership.

i can see share holders wanting a big piece of those billions in the form of dividends. how much does nintendo pay in dividends anyway?

these losses will not go away. sorry.

Translation? "I'm going to plug my ears, close my eyes and hum my troubles away" lol.

The problem Nintendo has is due to creating a vaccum. They sent the core packing during the Gamecube and Wii era, and swooned the casual. The casual left, and then they had no one to sell games to (console speaking). Now, they have to start from scratch again. I hope they do it. I have faith that they'll do it. If anyone can, it's them. They're the last of their kind. A true, gaming company.
