influence
ˈɪnflʊəns/
noun
noun: influence; plural noun: influences
1.
the capacity to have an effect on the character, development, or behaviour of someone or something, or the effect itself.

Suggest you learn what the word influence actually means, it's hilarious you think Zelda is influencial yet ... hasn't influenced any other game.

Nice auto owned. if influence is the CAPACITY to have an effect on something else, it doesn't need to have happened already. simply put, a game that uses motion control for 1:1 swordfighting will probably be influenced by SS.

Also: "What was YOUR most influential game of the previous gen?

LOL so everything in the universe is influential? So weak with your retorts Zero, go back to make funny WiiU predictions!!

Lost Odyssey for me. The stories in that game and overall story were great till the end. Unbelievable game. Got me into turn-based RPGs. In turn I liked Blue Dragon also. It's shit on though but I really liked it.

COD4. A game that influenced the whole genre after it. Not many games nowadays can say that.

  • Popularized iron sights in FPS games
  • Made rechargable health standard in shooters
  • Sprinting in shooters

Disagree here. COD 4 the first one was a good game. The things you mentioned were already in other games. For example Halo 1 and 2 both made rechargable health standard. Games including COD 4 followed down Halos path with the health.

Sprinting in shooters was around in many shooters before COD4. Iron sights also.

All COD4 did is actually hve a decent War game with the first MW. It came along at the right time. When everyone was still doing WW2.

If anything all COD4 can be given for influence was they influenced modern warfare in FPS. Now they all bloody do it.

Actually, in terms of game mechanics Halo didn't do much to define the genre. It wasn't until COD4 came along that the aspects I listed above because popular, thus standard in most modern shooters.

Shut up, is not an exclusive for xbox 360 you ignorant.

Influential =/= best game. I think most people don't understand the thread title at all. TC is basically asking for the most copied game (i.e the game whose elements have transcended into the most games) this generation and that has to be COD4 without a doubt.

I say Assassin's Creed. It brought the open world craze upon us by showing us what was possible in a truly open world.

I'm pretty sure San Andreas did that :D

From my understanding of the OP, the TC is talking about influence on other games not influence on you as a gamer so the fact that it influence you  won't be relevant in this case. LO also doesn't really do anything old school final fantasy games didn't already do so it won't really be influencing any games anyway.
