Forums - Sales Discussion - For the 360 Lovers in all of us: Japanese Famitsu Sales Charts!

Why does everyone ignore that Forza is going to launch in Japan this month? I think that and Trusty Bell will combine for about 100,000 360s sold over the next two months.

Yeah I'm hoping Trusty Bell kicks up there reputation a notch and especially Lost Odysessy, by year end they'll easily beat the original consoles sales, and hopefully turn the tides for the systems fate. With BD 2 and Cry on on the way, and possibly a continuation for Lost Odyessy depends on how it's recieved of course it could possibly mean the 360 has an audience in Japan. I'd really like to see the 360 get more Jrpg support I love that kind of stuff. The biggest obsticle is right when Lost Odyessy comes out is when the ps3 really kicks in gear, at which point will it be too late? Or will people at that point be looking for other options?

Forza sells well in japan? And why expect trusty bell to make wave if blue dragon didn't.... I thought blue dragon looked good and was going to be well recieved.

Games make me happy! PSN ID: Staticneuron Gamertag: Staticneuron Wii Code: Static Wii - 3055 0871 5802 1723

Blue Dragon moved about 100,000 360s over a month and a half or so. My prediction isn't entirely out of line. While Forza didn't sell well in Japan, it's a different situation now on a different console. The 360 is in better shape than the original Xbox was and it was going up against the GT series. This time around, there is no next-gen GT series to compete with and there won't be for at least a year or so. Add in the followup of Trusty Bell three weeks later and you could have a respectable jump in 360 sales. Maybe even coming close to PS3 sales for a few months (though I expect the PS3 sales to jump a little also so probably not).

Very sad that Dead Rising didn't have more sales in Japan.

When does Forza ship to Japan? It could move a few systems. On a similar note: Test Drive Unlimited (one of my fav games for the 360), sold 14k units, and RSV sold 12k units during golden week....Far better than the numbers that VGChartz gives. As a 360 owner, I am VERY VERY happy with my system. There are dozens of great games from every genre that are worth buying. There's a massive RPG lineup this year with Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Culdicept Saga, Eternal Sonata, Sacred 2 (Maybe), Two Worlds (think Oblivion + 3rd person + 8 player online, with a 150hr main quest), among other games. You have alot of great racing in Forza 2 (best racing series ever), Test Drive Unlimited, and of course PGR3, your usual great sports games, great shooters like EDF 2017 which is fantastic (duh), but there are a ton of great action/adventure games out there like Tomb Raider Legends, Viva Pinata, Dead Rising, ect ect. I know I always promote the 360 here, but I am so happy with my system. Easily the happiest I've been since my SNES golden years with all the Square, Enix and Namco RPGs back in the day. As for the idea of 1m 360s sold by the end of this year - it's nearly if not impossible. Right now, I'm anticipating 375,000 to 400,000 units sold this year due to Forza, Trusty Bell and Lost Odyssey. This is a HUGE improvement over the 196,000 units last year (which was MS's best year in Japan on either Xbox or 360). Even @ 400k, the 360 would be at 700k LTD. It would need atleast 650k this year, and it's only sold 87k thus far. As much as TB and Forza should move systems during summer, it's nowhere near what is needed. Now, DMC4 and LO might move a ton of systems later this year, but even in the absolute best case, the 360 might sell 275k units from November to December (which would basically be more systems in 8 weeks than the 360 did in 14 months from launch). I think the chart shows the biggest thing as said: The 360 lacks Japanese games. 9 of 10 games in the top 10 are Japanese-designed games with a decent focus on Japan. There are only 2 RPGs in Japan for 360. One of which is the reason the 360 is still alive. If MS was able to get Mistwaker, Namco, S-E and others to make 3 major JRPGs a year, the 360 would easily sell 5m units, but that won't happen. 750k units LTD at EOY is likely, which is still well above what the Xbox did in 4 years.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

shucks, I was hoping that Idolmaster would beat GoW

some of those games aren't exclusive, and those games won't have long term impact on sales. I just think people are being too optimistic about 360 in Japan. Blue Dragon is probably the biggest release 360 will have for its whole lifetime.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

....So thats why everyone is anticipating Lost Odyssey in Japan far more than Blue Dragon ever was, right? BD was only the first release for Mistwaker. Although it was huge, it's not like a major franchise or developer's first title is the only biggest one. Think about this: Gears of War, a American title did nearly what Lost Planet, a Japaneese game did. The sales for 360 software has steadily improved over the past few months in terms of what a generic game does. Good examples wold be AC4, RSV, TDU, GOW, CoD3, ect. The last 4 games would of sold far less in Japan. RSV in 1 week outsold Ghost Recon AW did with whatever run it had by around 4,000 units. Not much by a PS3 or Wii standard, but for the 360 it's a strong improvement. Call of Duty 3 was the same way. CoD3 in a month already outsold CoD3's entire lifetime in Japan. Now, if the sequals such as CoD3 and RSV (not an actual sequal, but close enough) already outsold their predicessors in such quick time, why wouldn't Lost Odyssey do better than BD? Why wouldn't Trusty Bell do incredibly well? Ect ect ect. The 360 has another good year or two ahead of sales. IMO, we should see LO hit 300k if not more.

May 24th or 27th, I can't remember which.

I really believe that this game will do well in Japan since there is a complete dearth of next-gen street racing sims available right now.

90,000 copies would be a nice number to start at.
