Titanfall alpha test registration is now open on Xbox One, meaning you could get to play Respawn's highly-anticipated shooter ahead of its March release.

To register, you'll need to head to the official site and login with your EA Origin account, before clicking through a couple of simple menus. A screen will then confirm your application is complete, reading "if you are selected to take part in our upcoming test, you will receive an email in the coming days with a unique code and instructions on how to download and access the game on Xbox One."

There's still no official word on a beta, open or otherwise, but it's safe to assume that if all goes well in the alpha we should expect an update soon.

In case you missed it last week, it was revealed that Titanfall matches would be capped at six human players per team. When this elicited fan backlash, the developer explained that mechs and AI bots will mean there'll be 48 combatants in every match.

Titanfall will hit Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC on March 11, 2014 in North America and March 13, 2014 in Europe and Australia, replete with a pretty impressive Collector's Edition and an even cooler limited edition Xbox One controller, though it won't come with mod support at launch. In the meantime, tide yourself over by reading up on the many different mechs available in the game.

Wait what? An alpha less than 2 months before release?

Alpha testing, maybe they wont do beta testing? Or maybe the beta test will be really short.you would think they would want do more testing with teh cloud and what not...

I smell disaster and/or delays.

If this is  really the Alpha test, then the word Alpha has picked up another meaning. This game is less than 2 months away.. Unless a delay is incoming, which I highly doubt. We will see.

God forbid there are balance issues or glitches, how will these be fixed by March? Sigh.....

Yea, I think it's a special inside promotion.  They were playing the game way back in the summer.  I think this is some clever marketing to get Battlefield 4 Players talking about it.

Random Reddit post -I've been playing the Alpha all day and I can say that this game is amazing! My first game I had a lot more fun than I did in Battlefield 4 or Call of Duty: Ghosts. The gameplay is phenomenal and everything just plays smoothly. I never had this much fun in a FPS game since Halo 2 and 3!

You guys are in for one hell of a game come this March!

Now I have a friend in the "Alpha" and they had no plans on purchasing and they went out and pre ordered while I was on the phone with them. They said the gameplay was super smooth and it's a blast. It's all he has been playing since he downloaded it today.

I have been waiting since the last Unreal Tournament for a good FPS that I can enjoy playing online. I will be getting the Xbox One and PC Version.
