Forums - Sales Discussion - Uncharted is now a bigger IP Than Zelda

For this comparison, i'm comparing 2006 onwards (believe me zelda fans, your lucky i'm doing this), now i won't count the new zelda game or wind walker hd as that's unfair.

well see when Uncharted PS4 and Zelda WiiU drop

edit: btw, a tad unfair that a remake is on the list for Zelda

I left out twilight princess, wind waker hd and a link between worlds, i wouldn't say the comparison wasn't unfair at all.

Uh... context. Most of those Zeldas are portables which have tended to fly under the radar in the past, Zelda-wise, before ALBW and aren't usually seen as core entries to the series, in the way that Vita Uncharted isn't seen that way either. Meanwhile Skyward Sword had the albatross of appearing on console on its way out which hadn't had a game in a year.

Only Twilight Princess was in a situation closely mirror the situation of a game like Uncharted 2 or Uncharted 3 where it was on a successful console and was seen as a major entry in the franchise. And it's the best-selling game you included.

All that said... so what? Who's comparing Zelda and Uncharted so closely? Uncharted has become Sony's flagship. Zelda, successful though it is, is not Nintendo's powerhouse money franchise like Mario is.

How the hell Spirit Tracks managed to pull such huge numbers is beyond me, but it is enough proof that Zelda is still the bigger IP.

I mean, since you're at it, why did you purposedly left out that Uncharted Card game? :P

Uncharted 1 and 2 both were bundled a lot, I'm not so sure about the third one though.
Anyways they both are an amazing series so I could care less who is bigger, I love both of them.

Might I also add that it would only be fair to add the combined total sales of LoZ:TP, which I believe brings it to over 8 million

-DS Zelda's sold meh because they we're pretty much hated by most fans.

-Skyward Sword also sold meh because it required WiiMote plus and it came out at the end of the Wii's lifecycle (Look at Majora's Mask, it sold around Skyward Sword range. It required the N64 expansion and came out at the end of the N64's lifecycle)

By your logic, Uncharted is a smaller franchise then Zelda becuase Golden Abyss didn't sell well.

We can't make this immediate assumption until we see the sales of Uncharted 4 v Zelda U.

No, that is still Gran Turismo

Come back when Uncharted is 30 years old.
