Forums - Gaming Discussion - God of War: Ascension sold through 2.8 million?

Hey guys, so i came across this tweet from Sony Santa Monica's studio: @SonySantaMonica: 62,000 Champions have Platinum'd #GodofWar Ascension, are you in this elite class?

After reading it i realized that with the new feature of trophy rarity we can achieve at what is supposedly the number of people that played GOW:A AND went online after it.

Sooo i did the math (is it wrong?) and arrived to the number 2.818.181! I did 62000/2,2 (platinum rarity of the game)x 100=2.818.181 Soo is this game massively undertracked (like 1.2million??) or what?

Is this number that i arrived correct? What are your thoughts on this?

thats probably with multiple accounts. but we know its undertracked by around 200k

We have to take second hand purchase, lending etc. of the game into consideration. But it may be a bit undertracked, yeah.

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

Would multiple accounts inflate the total number THAT much? O_o

Edit: ohh i see, there are multiple factors that would change this number, this may be undertracked, but not THAT much

Your reasoning holds up, but numbers just seem to high for me. As said above, maybe multiple accounts.

Have to remember not everyone who bought the game is connected online so do not add to the trophy rarity, also there are people who bought the game used or rented which are not new sales, but do still add to the rarity.

but we also have to take into consideration that the game has online passes. so if people bought it used/rented it they probably didnt connect online.

Only their PS3 needs to be online, they do not need play the multiplayer for trophies to register and be counted, all it would do is make the single multiplayer trophy rarer as they cannot get that one unless bought the online pass (or it was never used by original owner).

Yeah, the second user would only need to sync their trophies after having played it for them to be counted on the statistic, you dont need the online pass for that
