Hey folks, so I've been listening to the remastered soundtrack for Final Fantasy X (It's hit and miss, although most of the new songs are great in my opinion, some have been ruined...) and I can't wait to play the best game ever on PS3 and get me that platinim trophy! :D

I decided to make a thread to talk about one of my favourite characters in the game, not in terms of character development, but in battle... the way we level him up using the sphere grid.

I thought it'd be fun to see how you guys go about levelling the big blue guy up during your playthrough(s), like, which route do you take for him?

Mine is pretty much this, a Melee Kimahri build, using the standard sphere grid (Never bothered with the expert one, apart from a couple of playthroughs, didn't see a difference except fewer nodes):

Start by filling Kimahri's first circle, then move to the lower left, using a couple of Level 1 Key Spheres, and go into Rikku's path, get her first circle, which includes quite a hefty amount of HP, Steal and Use (You can get both these skills way before she even joins the party), then I move towards Wakka's path, since he gets some nice strength and HP bonuses quite early (Well, early depending on how much you grind, lol), along with his accuracy and such. When I'm at his end, I backtrack to Sleep Buster, and with two Level 2 Key Spheres, break into Auron's first circle... now I follow Auron's right to the end, since he gets some really nice HP and strength. Once I've done Auron's path, I use a Level 3 Key Sphere to break into Tidus' path, and follow that to the end... I know I could go back to his earlier circles and grab Haste and Cheer or something, but I just carry on for Hastega, and don't really bother with Cheer (I never really use it anyways).

Finally, once I've done all that, I'll use a Teleport Sphere and go back to Rikku's path, and just ride hers all the way to the end... and that's it, Kimahri becomes insanely strong with physical damage and defence, has all of the melee skills at his disposal, and at the same time has high enough magic (From all the nodes along the way) that his overdrives such as Fire Breath will still deal nice damage.

I know this takes a while, and obviously not everyone will go this way... not to mention it's not like the other characters can't do this (Yuna and Onion Knight hitting 99,999 lol...) but it's just something to do throughout the game so he doesn't feel like a backseat character, lol.

So, yeah... how do YOU level Kimahri? Or y'know... just talk about him anyway because he's actually awesome! :P

At first I didnt like him but he's better and more memorable than Fang was in FFXIII.

I liked his tidbit storyline in FFX and honestly was one of the few characters that didnt get shat on in X-2.

The wisest out of the group in X, loved it! (Although Auron is pretty awesome too :P)

He was annoying in my opinion, but then again I found most of the Ronsos in the game to be annoying.

my kihmari went to rikku's grid... I barely use my kimahri unfortunately....

i did not have any space or job for kimahri unlike quistis or quina... btw should've named him quimarih... to follow the q blue magician :P

rikku (thief and fast attacker)
auron (heavy hitter)
tidus (support for hastega)
lulu (mag attacker)
wakka (main attacker... that hit reels is evil)
yuna (healer... only use summons of the hunting monster)

kihmari.... ah that special event when you have to use him....

I always forget about him. Never really liked him much.

Any reason you found them to be annoying?

Ah yeah, that would've been cool seeing his name with a Q, lol :P

If you're planning on getting the HD remaster, or just playing through it again any time... you should think about using him more often, he can do the same job as multiple characters while only taking one space in the front line, for example, I've gone down Yuna and Lulu's paths with him, so he's a healer and black mage, with their magic nodes too, added magic to his weapon, and even though the numbers aren't quite as high as either Yuna or Lulu (Although he still works wonders), he only takes one spot in the front line, so you could have two melee attackers, a black mage and a white mage, all in one... with Steal and Use if you decide to break off and get them (I ALWAYS get them first with him!), but it really just depends on how you decide to play, I mean, for the most part, I keep him as a melee character since that's primarily what I see him as, and once I've gone down Auron's path (See my first post), I actually use him over Auron, lol :P

I don't use Kimahri. He can start as any character you want him to, but you have to put too much time into him to make him as good as any of the characters.

I'm not a huge fan of him. I feel he's just... there, not doing anything.
And while FFX is in my top 5 of the series, I find the cast to be one of the weakest. Wakka, Rikku, Kimahri, blah. Yuna, Lulu and especially Auron are great though, and I like Tidus.

And I think I made him walk on Wakka's path, but I'm not sure.
