Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why so many Wii U haters???

It's not so much the Wii U actually being universally hated as it is everyone criticizing Nintendo's current strategy and the bipolar design of the Wii U being labelled as "haters", "Nintendo haters" or "Wii U haters".
Personally, I don't hate either but I have been vocal about Nintendo's incredibly poor marketing strategy and the makeshift design philosophy behing the Wii U. There really is quite a lot to be discussed around the Wii U's general position and identity (or rather; lack thereof) but it's almost impossible to do it without being labelled as a mere hater.

Of course, a lot of Nintendo fans would still call me a "hater", regardless.

you whole heartedly believe that good sales equal good games?

seriously?

I believe on the whole that good games on a console equals good console sales. Yes... what do you believe is the reason for good console sales? Poor software... suppose the OUYA is going to outsell all of them then ;)

Console sales and software sales have many factors. Quality is one of them. In some cases it's the most important, in other cases commercial or word of mouth, in other cases it's quantity.

Yes I agree, but I think people think just because Nintendo have some high rated games, that this is *more* important than these other factors.

Sorry trying to have about 7 different conversations on different things, so slightly all over the place.

What I am trying to say is that some people believe that just because some Nintendo games have come out with high scores, this basically is the argument for poor sales... not sure if that makes sense..

Lol, know the feeling :D

Although I think I lost that last sentence... You're saying people say that the reason the Wii U is selling bad is because the games have high quality?

Haha yeah - trying to work, play games, reply to forums... probably shouldnt do that.

No I dont mean that. Man i am confusing myself now...

It's mainly the Eurogamer thread thats kinda my point. People are slating PS4/XBO by saying that well Nintendo have much better rated games and a better library. I am saying Good games sell consoles, but what is a good game. It's not necessarily just a Metacritic or a review score. It's quantity, but more importantly a range and depth that people want to play. There are of course other factors, price and hardware power, 3rd party support, but thats the point I was trying to make (but badly...haha :)

There's a ton of Wii U apologists as well. I frankly don't get where they're coming from.

The Wii U aplologists are the ones who actually own the system or have had a ton of experience with it. They can see what a good piece of kit it is, the benefits of the gamepad etc. A majority of Wii U haters are on the bandwagon and the closest they have got to the console is the picture of it on the doom article. Yes im aware that there are people that have owned Wii U and not got on with it, but a vast majority of people who own one are very happy with it.

people tend to hate those who innovate and drive the industry forward besides, HOW DARE an SD system wipe the floor with two super powers like last gen?

plus we like colors too but we are to afraid to admit it so we can't buy Nintendo consoles cus then we look kiddy in front of our friends so we want Nintendo to go third party so we can get their games on more "mature" platforms. that way we can buy colorful games but hide them when our "mature" fwends com over to play colors with 99 shades of brown

i think you definition of wipe the floor is different than most. Wii < 40% (and shrinking) market share =/= wipe the floor

I see. Makes more sense this time around as well. :D

Personally I think PS4 and One are selling well now because of hype and a future. Most of the interesting games on those systems are avalible elsewhere, but the ones buying the systems KNOW that they'll always get the third party games. Can't say the same thing for Nintendo. If you like what Nintendo is offering though there's no reason not to buy, but seeing as Nintendo aren't tapping into the western market in a large degree, it's hurting sales.

Add to that total confusion about what the system is (and the fact that no one knows about the systems existence), and you have a pretty hard time selling a system. I'm really hoping they'll sort it out though, Wii U really is an awesome system.

No, Wil U is not selling bad because of high quality games( I agree it has some good games which pleases most of them especially Nitendo fans but doesn't attract hardcore games of these days) and its because plays only Nintendo games mostly and few 3rd party title(but they are inferior products compared to PS4/Xbox one). Everyone these days buys Nintendo consoles only for their IP's only and they don't support 3rd party just like that(even nintendo made this harder  by giving a less powerful hardware and different architecture for 3rd party compared to others). You can see that everyone is waiting to get Wii U only when they have Mario kart, SSB, Zelda etc., but they never wish 3rd party games to play in that.

GAMING is not about spending hours to pass/waste our time just for fun,

its a Feeling/Experience about a VIRTUAL WORLD we can never be in real, and realizing some of our dreams (also creating new ones).

So, Feel Emotions, Experience Adventure/Action, Challenge Game, Solve puzzles and Have fun.

PlayStation is about all-round "New experiences" using new IP's to provide great diversity for everyone.

Xbox is always about Online and Shooting.

Nintendo is always about Fun games and milking IP's.

sorry duplicate post due to my internet

you believe that Xbone and PS4 are selling so well based on good software then right?

Because of the guarantee of much better support in the future. If you disagree kindly take a look at the number  of 80+ rated games of the Wii, 360 and PS4 according to metacritic. Don't forget the WiiU has a year headstart.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

No reason to apologize when Wii U has better games. Majority of the people hating never even used one. I own one but i hate on it for the obvious problems with it. Retards on this site that dont own one usually just repeat the same clueless phrases like "its as powerful or less powerful than PS3 and 360" or "Nintendo should not have included the gamepad and put more RAM for fanboy hype"

See i've seen this statement a few times (currently from wii-u owners on the EG site)... if it has better games then why isnt everyone rushing to buy one. Oh i know because opinion doesnt equal fact. They may review well, and nintendo fans might love them (and thats fair enough), doesnt mean that the general public feel the same way, and in my opinion that is reflected by the sales.

Sorry to burst your bubble but Mario as well as most other Nintendo franchises has been good most of the time. Mario may not be your type of game but its well put together and is loads of fun. Software sales mean nothing at this point since its launch and people are forced to buy broken and/or repetitive crap as bundles (Battlefield 4, COD Ghost, Killzone and Knack). Heck even the sales data on this site proves barely anyone bought PS4 or Xbox One games a week after they launched. If its reflected by its sales why the heck is Mario higher on the charts every week compared to Killzone and Kack....i mean Knack? Not only are reviewers calling those games crappy and boring but even the people that bought them are realizing this and are writing reviews. Broken or not Battlefield 4 is a kick in the balls to all Battlefield fans (EA pushing Dice to make the game more like COD for competition). Killzone has always been a subpar shooter franchise and to think this current installement is the worst rated and its about a 8 hour campaign makes me want to not even bother touching that game. I feel sorry for anyone that was forced to buy Knack as a bundle. Nintendo did a better job with their Nintendoland pack in.
