They want to shut out Sony. Before they tried to enter the gaming industry they wanted to work work with Sony like they did Sega and Sony turned them down. Since then they've felt threatened by them and been at their throat. Every move they make is based on what Sony does. Sony responds to both Microsoft and Nintendos moves. Nintendo does their own thing, but Microsoft always focuses on Sony.

I don't even know why someone would think a company like Microsoft would buy Sony anyways. Also when Microsoft entered the gaming industry it was all Sony and M$ asked Nintendo = that did not work Nintendo wanted to be independent.

Look I understand Sony is not going all that well as a co-operation/ company but you just can't believe everything G4 says. I am a dedicated gamer and always will be but most people I know who read more game news than me and go on more video game sites say to me G4 just encourages FAN BOYS. To be honest I personally think that's true also not to many sites are talking about how bad the company is going because it's not that much of an issue. 😀

Let me see if I got the OP' s true message here. He's basically saying, "Hey, MS has basically already lost this gen, so they should cheat and just buy the winner." You do realize MS has much more to worry about than being the winner in the console warz.

Anyway, that wouldn't work for 2 reasons. One, to do so they would have to do it through a hostile takeover. Something I highly doubt Japan would allow to happen, if it's even legal. And two, it would take MS years to recover from the bad publicity of such a move. Especially in countries outside of the US. People would most likely not buy their "Sony" products, which means they would have wasted billions just to try and be the winner.

No. Actually after Primesense was turned down by Sony they went to Microsoft. Sony had their own tech that they made, Microsoft had nothing to combat with so they bought the Kinect tech and invested in it. Sony had their eye on the motion control pulse since the Playstation 2 launched. They launched the Eyetoy in 2004. Goes to show how much their marketing sucked ass because no one knew what the Eyetoy was.

Well that seems like the only way Microsoft is going to build up a workable IP collection. :)

Also the company started doing bad as soon as ps3 came out and started to loose against Samsung in TV's after 2010.

It's to early to know if the company is doing better now but remember if the PS4 week buy week surpasses PS2 then it's a new small golden age of the company.

Also watch there CES conference and you will understand how innovative they are out of the gaming division. Also about how hard they try. Also the only reason for 79% pankrupsy because they spend so much money on other products becides PlayStation that don't sell well. Also they spend lost of money on marketing for a company that only has 17 Billion.
