This is a big reminder as to why Ninty is not directly competing vs M$ony.

-M$ is mediocre at chess (trying to slowly destroy Sony)

-Sony is awesome at checkers (does nothing but know how to please its fans)

-Nintendo is playing Risk....

Basically, Nintendo will not sacrifice its troops/contribute to Sony's demise in any way as long as MS is in the game.  Nintendo had the ultimate opportunity to take advantage of the 1 yr headstart to try and recapture "certain fans", if they put out a true next gen console.  Instead, they went the same path of a NintendOnly box/cheaper & different console to let the other 2 duke it out.  Nintendo is deathly afraid of M$ and wants to part of competing against them 1v1.  If M$ were to leave the console biz, you can bet Ninty would legitimately try again (repair 3rd party relationships, release high spec consoles etc) vs Sony.

Something called anti-trust laws would stop them, especially in EUR. They would have arguably the biggest monopoly of an industry ever; PC, Xbox, and Playstation. But EU would never allow it, heck they are trying to break Google in separate companies!

Xbox Two or X720 = $999

Kinect = Mandatory = Built into hardware.. console won't function without it
DRM = Always Online and etc = Mandatory = Build around the O.S , console won't function without it

Actually Apple should buy Sony. Imagine if Apple made all of Sony movies, music, indie games and playstation classics all Apple exclusive for the iPhone/ iPad. Apple will dominate the mobile aspect in a heart beat.
