Sony Hired Star Wars 1313’s Creative Director

Design director at SCEA doing....what, exactly?

Dominic Robilliard, creative director on the canceled Star Wars 1313, has joined Sony Computer Entertainment America. Working as design director, Robilliard joined Sony following Lucasarts’ layoffs last year.

Robilliard does not specify a project, nor any studios he’s working with at SCEA, onLinkedIn. Sony Bend, Naughty Dog, Sony Santa Monica and more fall under SCEA’s purview in North America.

Prior to his time at Lucasarts, Robilliard worked as a designer with Sony Europe on The Getaway series, including the canceled The Getaway 3. We've contacted Sony asking for additional context regarding Robilliard's role in the PlayStation empire.

For more on what might have been, check out Star Wars 1313's concept art and story details.

I'm still holding out hope that the Star Wars game that EA has Visceral Games working on is going to be a revival of 1313.

Same here. That game was looking like it was going to give us a completely different look at Star Wars. I always felt like Star Wars was always told in such a grand, unrealistic way. Would be nice to see something a little closer to 'reality'.

i wonder what studio he joined. Sony Santa Monica, Naughty Dog, Sony Bend all had games underway. maybe he joined Sony Santa Monica's second team? the one with cory barlog?

Nah bro. Even the KotOR series had too much of that grand, larger-than-life feel. Everything was too clean. Everyone was too proper. For the most part. I'm talking about a game that makes me feel like what I'd actually experience if the Star Wars universe was ours.  Ya know. Naked in a dirty gutter offering hand jobs for a few credits.

Hmmm, really? I thought they went through that larger scheme in Kotor 2 than in Kotor 1, on which you were kinda a no-one (during 3/4 of the game at least) and had to known the folcklore around.

What you're looking for, I'm afraid, the closest thing to it is Jedi Outcast.

Take something resembling our reality. Now add Star Wars technology to it. None of the typical space opera bullshit. Not being an anal Jedi douchebag or an absurdly angry Sith. Something gritty and dirty. A world where I could totally catch an STD from a twi'lek.
