Forums - Gaming Discussion - can we finally agree the ps2 was a fad?

It sold a mere 150 million units when it was on track to sell 150 billion units.  Plus, it sold well because it had a DVD player, which was also a fad.  Also, I haven't heard of the Playstation brand or Sony since then.  Are they still around?  I guess it was less of a fad than a mullet, but that's about it.

Good Job.

Look at how the PS3 sold in comparison.

Clearly a fad.

No. To be a fad you need to fill three blanks:

- Be a good console (like the Wii)
- Be a Nintendo console (like the Wii)
- Sell good enough (like the Wii)

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

No PS2 was one of the best consoles ever made.

Edit: Oh you're being sarcastic and replying to the other thread asking if the Wii was a fad lol.

*sigh*

Signature goes here!

Ok now we all know that cars and electricity are just fads... The earth has been around don't know a few billion years? And those two only for 2 hundred or sth. TOTALLY da FAD.

Now back on topic. To me a fad is, as stated, something that peaks really fast and never recharges again. At best those survive 2-3 years. The Wii has some things in common with those points (it peaked early and never recharged) but it lasted way longer than usual fads do.
The DS had a lifespan of more than 7 years. It sold continuously good and only lost share in it's last years.

But that's just my opinion...

Can we finally agree that pointless threads are pointless? At least, I don't know, try to make it a bit funny?
