There will be blood... I still would like Sega to release a budget new console for their games...

Oooh yes! The Dreamcast actually was a budget console at 199$, despite it having great specs. To bad the PS2 launced a year later :P.

I do believe that if sony would have kept a grip if the US market during the 7th generation, albeit a small one, they would dominate that country this generation aswell.

Man, I think i gotta sit down and play some Dreamcast now...

Have you heard of the rumours of Dreamcast 2 with Shenmue 3??? That would be great.

In my opinion, nothing. Microsoft has a grip on the US and with the release of Titanfall that grip will only strengthen. We Americans do love our shooters.

Sony hit hard, but is still being outsold in the states. Now, if the real issue the Ps4 is getting handed to by the Xbone is supply, then this thread is irrelevent.

But, if the Xbone actually has a larger demand than the Ps4 in the US, then Sony needs to act quick if it doesn't want to end up last the Ps3. Once the dust settles and gamers choice what platform their friends are playing on, it's hard to overcome that userbase.

So, what can Sony do to take the US with Ps4? Is it games? Is it one game, or many? Continue great P Plus support?

Thoughts....

All Sony has to do is to continue what they've been doing, release the planned games, and ease out the supply. This is enough of a reason for Sony to beat MS in US. There are 4 major indicators for this:

a) There is obviously more demand for PS4 in US, regardless of which metric or source you look at. Demand does not equal sales unless supply and logistics are appropriate but Sony will eventually get it right. MS, admittedly did a better job for relative supply in US, and got rewarded handsomely in return although this will not turn to a long term impact

b) PS4 is heavily under-supplied, and this will change. In the worst case scenario, where the same demand will hit both PS4 and XB1 supplies.

c) PS4 is cheaper, and even with equal levels of demand, it will sell roughly 20% more than XB1 (in US).

d) UK is a good indicator of things to come. UK had relatively abundant supply of PS4, and easily sold 20% more than XB1, and still sold out meeting much higher demand. US will repeat a somewhat more moderate version of that.

Either way PS4, will be ahead of XB1 in US, but neither will dominate. The overall XB1 sales ratio will be between 35%-45% against PS4, which can actually prove better (mean more sales) for MS than the last generation, given the lack of an overshadowing WiiU.

Playstation 5 vs XBox Series Market Share Estimates

Regional Analysis  (only MS and Sony Consoles)
Europe     => XB1 : 23-24 % vs PS4 : 76-77%
N. America => XB1 :  49-52% vs PS4 : 48-51%
Global     => XB1 :  32-34% vs PS4 : 66-68%

Supply is the issue right now.

Titanfall will give a good boost but I think PS4 will have a good gap in March... so it will stay ahead.

When xbox one had a price cut Sony should respond rapidly and get 3rd party exclusivity.

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

I still can't find a single PS4 in my city and I haven't been able to find a single one since launch. (keep in mind that I do work a lot and couldnt afford to wait in line on launch day).

I honestly think that releasing in 10 more countries means that PS4 isn't able to meet demand in the US.

It could sell more if more units were available. Better supply as well as a more steady demand for PS4 I think will leading it to outsell the XB1 on a regular basis.

The early adopters are the fans who buy a specific console regardless of specs and price of the competition but there are just so many Xbox/Halo fans (7-15 mill). :p just teasing

In any case the current and growing PS4 (34%) market share in the US is a huge improvement from PS3 (23,6%).

PS3 (28.25 mill) vs. XB360 (46.29) vs. Wii (45.16)
PS4 (2.19 mill) vs XB1 (2) vs. WiiU (2.25)

Titles that will keep the PS4 selling loads in the US (and here in the UK as we like our action too):
Infamous SS
The Order: 1886
Uncharted 4
God of War 4 (Norse mythology with new protagonist)
Santa Monica's WRPG
Guerrilla Games' new IP
London Studio's new action IP

etc.

Blow up Xbone headquarters or just put PS4 commercials with hot chicks ala Dead or Alive Volleyball for Xbox. Lots of my friends got Xboxes after that commercial. Americans love hot chicks and guns

Xbone... the new "N" word   Apparently I troll MS now | Evidence | Evidence

Nothing!!! Microsoft has more 1st Party games who are favored in North America than Sony like Halo, Gears of War, Crackdown, Banjo Kazooie and Killer Instinct!!!

I think X1 will catch the PS4 when Titanfall releases latest. If it can keep it until Halo remains to be seen.
But yes I see X1 at least equal to the PS4 brand in the US. But I'm not really worried about it because PS4 will outsell it everywhere else 2:1
