what are those? cop dramas?

Yes Tokyo Dogs is a cop show but it's more comedic, bloody monday is a bit more crime thriller type

Another awesome cop drama than i absolutely loved was Boss. that was epic all around.

if you want something like a family comedy/drama i liked Brother Beat and At home dad a lot too, those are older shows though.

my first jdrama was hana yori dango, there's 2 seasons and a movie i watched it cause i loved the anime and thats how i got interested in jdramas

some of my favourites were orange days, honey and clover, stand up, akihabara@deep... gosh i've seen so many it's hard to remember. I also recommend Pride and Nobuta wo produce.

my mind is flooded with titles so maybe you should say what type of dramas you'd prefer or try some of these and see what you like and dislike.

What kind of drama?

Regardless of your taste, I recommend Two Weeks.

You can watch it at dramafever.com

i loved GTO but i watched the old version from 1998 and not the 2012 version. makes it harder to enjoy a new cast, the old one was so awesome!

The Hana Yori Dango anime was amazing.  I loved it.  The J-drama version was also very good.  I had to stop watching it and the K-drama versions, though, because it just made me so angry.  It ticks me off when the main character keeps falling for these absolute jerks.  How am I supposed to root for that?

On topic, some of my favorite K-drama are:
You're Beautiful -- One of the best and most popular K-dramas of all-time.  It's the story of a girl who, because of reasons, ends up pretending to be a boy in a popular boy band.  This, of course, leads to all kinds of complications.  Really well done with both the comedy and the romance.  This made Park Shin-hye into a huge star.
Full House -- Another massively popular K-drama.  Guys love Song Hye-kyo and girls love Rain.  It's about a spunky, no-nonsense girl who gets swindled out of her house, which was built by her deceased father.  A spoiled actor/idol buys it and moves in but she refuses to leave.  Very much a love/hate drama.  The main character is really refreshing and likeable, which I think is the reason it was such a success.
Shining Inheritance -- Kind of a Cinderella thing.  It's the story of a girl who gets kicked out into the street with her autistic brother when her father dies and her Stepmother takes everything for herself and her own daughter.  The girl pretty much goes through hell trying to care for her brother by herself.  That includes making an enemy of a spoiled rich boy, though the two of them are also drawn to one another.
I Really Really Like You  --  Okay, this is the one that made me fall in love with the singer/actress Eugene.  She is so adorable in this.  She plays a country girl who lives with her grandma in the mountains.  One day she saves the life of a man who turns out to be the President's son.  The third part of the love triangle is a guy with a punkish attitude who is a secret service member.  He has an immediate personality clash with the main character which can be pretty funny.

Some of my favorite J-drama:
Trick -- Absolutely brilliant series with some of the best chemistry I've ever seen.  It's so quirky and unique.  It was extremely successful, with three series, two specials, and three films.  Yukie Nakama and Hiroshi Abe are amazing together and the direction is first-rate.  Yamada is a struggling magician with a bad personality and Ueda is a college professor who, despite being intelligent and handsome, is kind of a moron.  People keep coming to Ueda to solve occult cases and somehow Yamada always gets involved.  She's actually the one who figures out the tricks, though Ueda takes the credit.  One of my favorite series ever, eastern or western.
Hana-Kimi  --  You can't go wrong with Maki Horikita.  She stars as a girl who pretends to be a boy so she can attend an all-boys school.  She seems fixated on a former track athelete who has given up that part of his life.  Her goal is to help him, even if it means living a lie in the boy's dorms.  Really good comedy with some touching stuff.  This was a massive hit.
Nobuta wo Produce  --  Another wonderful series with Maki Horikita.  I liked this even more than Hana-Kimi.  It's about a popular guy, along with a goof-ball semi-friend, who team up to help the most unpopular girl in school become popular.  Kotani is painfully shy and has a gloomy personality, which leads to her being picked and bullied constantly.  The two boys decide to "produce" her and in doing so learn a lot about themselves.  This one has some real depth to it and boasts some really quality performances.  One of my very favorites.
Liar Game  --  Erika Toda plays a naive girl who gets sucked into something called the "Liar Game", where the goal is seemingly to con the other contestants as you try to advance to the next round.  Unfortunately, she is trusting, even to people who have wronged her, and has faith in other humans.  Fortunately, a young con artist sides with her, though it turns out he has motivations of his own.  Really good series and Erika Toda is excellent, as always.
Keizoku 2 SPEC  --  More Erika Toda and she is fantastic in this.  It's dark, it's quirky, and it's addicting.  She plays an extremely intelligent and eccentric police detective who is in the "unsolved cases" division--which is basically stuffed away in the basement.  After an event he cannot explain, where one of his men is killed, a hard-nose police officer gets pushed into that division as punishment.  There he learns that there are lots of dark mysteries hidden by the authorities.  It's kind of like X-files but really quirky.  This was a big hit in Japan.  It's brilliant.  The original is also really good, though it has a different cast and is from 1999.
