Forums - Gaming Discussion - Can Titanfall be THE GAME That Pushes Xbox One Above PS4 in America?

Not going to happen. You can wish though, nothing wrong with that.

I'm not so sure it's certain the XBOX One will rule America this time around, I think the numbers will be a lot more even. Titanfall is one of the best next gen games so far but the fact that it's on PC/360 and the fact that it's multiplayer only are both strikes against it. Infamous comes out at around the same time for PS4 as does Driveclub so it will probably still stay pretty even sales wise in terms of software and systems.

Titanfall as an XBOXOne only game would have been something to brag about more but I don't see it as a big momentum changer at the moment. It will boost some sales short term but I still think XBOX won't have a dominant lead (or even any lead) in the US this time around. Maybe when Halo gets here if it releases sooner than later things could change for now though it seems unlikley...

Nope, PS4 has mlb and infamous to even it out

It can be that game, it has all the hype behind it, all it has to do is deliver. Im pretty sure the x1 will get a pretty nice boost because of it, but I dont think it will have a long time effect, which again goes back to if it delivers or not.

Microsoft wouldn't have bought the rights to it if it wasn't good. I could see this being like the next Gears of War

I think it's an exlusive deal but the IP isn't owned by MS, pretty much like Gears of War. but Titanfall will never be the next Gears for pretty clear reasons:

1) The first entry is also available on X360 and PC.

2) EA implied the franchise will find its way to PS4 eventually.

3) EA has Battlefield to keep their focus on.

4) Pre-orders aren't all that great so far. And it'll be worse outside the US.

1) Gears 1 was also on PC

2.) Not if Microsoft has something to do with that

3.) IF Titanfall is more successful you can bet your ass they will make that their main focus

4.) Do you think Gears of War one had that many preorders? Titanfall preorders will be greater than gears 1 first week sales which is something

You can hope but Titanfall is not Gears Of War, only the first one wont be on PS4, but the rest of the franchise will like said the developer who owns the franchise

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

uuummmm no. By the time it comes out the gap will be what? 1/5-2 million consoles in the PS4s favor? On top of that, pre-orders are on par with those of Second Son so it's not like it will be the only big exclusive out.

Xbox fans are really have a lot riding on Titanfall. It must be tough to rely on ONE game to save the console.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Firstly Gears 1 was released on PC an entire year after the initial release on 360 and second PC gaming was nowhere as popular as Xbox 360 especially with third person shooters (hence why nobody bought Gears on PC)

To me everything seems to point that it wont be the next Gears but only time will tell.

You also gots to facter in 3rd person shootas arent nearly as popular as first person shooters on consoles.

There are a number of issues with what you have said. Firstly we have no idea at all who is going to win the US. We have had limited ps4 stocks worldwide so we dont know the true demand. In addition, theX1 has released with what is imo a better stable of launch titles. These can skew initial console sales though I note that still the ps4 sold more initially. Bearing these I dont think that the US has been "won" yet in any way.

As for Titanfall, really the preorder numbers in the US (the X1's strongest market) is just higher than Infamous SS's numbers (which has a week more to launch). This suggests the demand while strong is not big enough to be a major system seller. Especially MS were so greedy at how well they thought this game would do that they put it on the X360 to increase console sales (really splitting the sales between pc, x360 and x1 was a pretty stupid move and they will likely pay for it in much lower sales for the x1 (which is the one that really matters right now).

It's pretty certain the Xbox will Once again rule the USA. It's selling basically the same amount of units being 100 dollars more expensive than the PS4. With a price cut, Titanfall, Quantum Break, Halo 5, Fable Legends, Call of Duty exclusives, Kinect, Xbox Live superiority, and the failing Wii U, the Xbox One has everything going for it. My question is, will the Xbox One start outselling the PS4 when 360 owners will want the superior version of Titanfal and upgrade to an Xbox One? I think Titanfall has the potential to sell a million+ Xbox One units in 2014. It will push Xbox One over PS4 all the way until Halo 5 in the US!!

No. The 360 version is going to outsell it by 3:1.
