Forums - Nintendo Discussion - How much are U enjoying your Wii U?

Let's see on a scal 1-10 I say the Wii U is a solid 8. Lucky for me I didn't get to experience the software drought has I bought it after Wind Waker released!

I used it a LOT. Most of the time now I use it for Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. I'm doing the multiplayer quests! I already sank like 40 hours and I'm still at rank 3... Anyway I spent lots of time with this machine!

My favourite game right now is Super Mario 3D World of course!

8/10
Mine is used everyday
Games play the most All-Star Racing Transformed, Trine2 and Fifa13, played the hell out of ZombiU at launch
Can't wait for Mario Kart 8 should be buying SM3DW shortly with a new controller pro
When not gaming we use it for Netflix or Internet Browser, love using gamepad for off screen play, Internet browsing and watching YouTube videos. Oh also think Miiverse Is fantastic for connecting to the Nintendo community, and love Art Academy SketchPad.

I'd say it's an 8 from me. While the lineup have been lackluster, I've spent a lot of time with it and enjoyed the few games quite a lot.

I have used it for roughly 653 hours according to a calculator. :P Although it's roughly 70% web browser, and I have had the browser open to play music etc. etc. Still, 80 hours MH3U, 20 3D world, 10 WWHD and 60 AC 3 and a couple other games help.

My favourite game at the moment is 3D World. Haven't had this fun whith a game in ages!

6/10.

Good system. I always avoid the GamePad if I can, and just use Pro controller whenever a game allows it. (Having GamePad-only levels in 3DWorld is irritating but not too bad.)

eShop games are way too expensive. Needs to be more like Steam, less like a digital version of a Nintendo World Store.

Waiting to bite on Pikmin 3 until I can find a deal. There's bound to be one eventually, even if I have to go on Amazon.

Cannot wait for Kart 8, gonna be amazing. Will pass on Smash, as most of my college buddies have moved away and there's no one good at Smash to play with anymore.

'X' and Yarn Yoshi I am watching intently to see how they turn out. Would definitely bite on either of them if they're good. Other than that, waiting on Zelda U in 2015.

The Screamapillar is easily identified by its constant screaming—it even screams in its sleep. The Screamapillar is the favorite food of everything, is sexually attracted to fire, and needs constant reassurance or it will die.

1) 9/10: I've already amassed a collection of over a hundred games (solid mix of new and old) however, I'd like to see more developers utilize the Gamepad's functionality more (lot of wasted opportunity here)

2) Been playing constantly since launch - there's a few days I'll be glued to 3DS or I'm out visiting friends/family, ut most of my leisure time is spent on Wii U.

3) Fave experiences thus far (alphabetical order):

  • Call of Duty Ghosts - even if just for the motion controls; the wiimote/nunchuck feels very good with this title.
  • Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut - I've already played through the game several times on PS3, but by then I had already known about the Wii U Gamepad and imagined how the game could be improved using that interface. Much to my delight, they announced a Wii U port and Straight Right delivered (the fixes also made it more enjoyable overall)
  • Legend of Zelda: WInd Waker HD - another game I had played before, but was improved due to Gamepad enhancements, as well as the introduction of the swift sail. Being able to manage inventory and scan the chart to plan your next route whilst sailing without ever having to pause really improves the pacing, effectively providing a more immersive experience. Looking forward to the next EAD Zelda (Hyrule Warriors, too)
  • Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate - I haven't spent nearly as many hours as some of the others out there, but really love the improved loading times from the original version on Wii, I'm also a fan of referring to my songset on the gamepad without having to pause (as I prodominantly use the hunting horn in that game)
  • Nintendo Land - Still one of the best uses of the Gamepad (and now that I'm more experienced, I can actually beat a level on DK Crash Course lol). This is the main game I show to friends and family, and I've yet to know anyone personally who didn't enjoy the game (though it's the 2nd best-selling Wii U title, I'm surprised it hasn't caught on as well as it should; it really should be their #1 top-seller by a large margin)
  • Pikmin 3 - I never owned the first two titles in the series, but I had a couple friends who did, and though I loved the concept of the game, I wasn't a big fan of the controls. Over time I learned that there were Wii versions of both games that made use of the Wiimote/nunchuck tandum, but I never considered getting them as I wanted to go in fresh with Pikmin 3. The game plays beautifly with the motion controls, and having the Gamepad on the stand on the coffee table in front of me as real time map gives me a better view to strategize my 'days' on PNF-404. Now that I have played Pikmin 3, I fully regret neglecting the first two for so long (buying new play control Pikmin 1 & 2 has become a top priority this year) probably the most fun I had all 2013 playing a single video game. This game also makes me crave other RTS titles for the system.
  • Super Mario 3D World - like many others, I wasn't too excited when I saw the reveal trailer for this (despite Super Mario 3D Land being one of my fave handheld titles) it wasn't until the game was shown off more that I started to realize its charms, and it quickly became number one on my radar. From the new powerups and the various items, to the variety in level design and the varied difficulty based on how deep you want to delve into the game, this is one of the best Mario games ever. The game's graphical merits are astonishing as well; it's one of the prettiest looking titles of 2013, all on a modest <2GB file size. How?
  • ZombiU - initially, my hype for this game deflated once I read the leaked Gamespot review, then got really confused when I started reading many positive reviews on the game as well. Eventually I read an editorial on Coffee With Games entitled, "Critics vs. Customers! ZombiU reviews, or zombie reviewers?" the article restored everything that had me initially excited about the game, and I'm glad it did. To this day, it's my most played Wii U game and it's one of the few games that nail the Wii U formula perfectly (even as a launch title, which is impressive) and also restored my love for survival/horror, which had been fading for many years now. Someday, I'm going going to have a successful run at Survival Mode.
