Forums - Movies & TV - The Top 10 Films of 2013

Evil Dead was probably my favorite movie this year. Catching Fire was good as well. haven't seen to many movies this year, however.

Good times ahead for year mate. Some very good films here. Captain Phillips was really enjoyable as Hollywood fiction but as a historically accurate document it has been reported time and time again that it is far from the truth. This New York Post article spoke on it first then the flood gates opened and it really soured my view of then film. Turns out Phillips wasn't heroic at all.

gravity was my favorite

Yes, I am really lookin forward to that as well. Chadwick really surprised me in 42. Very good find and I think he will have an excellent career.

Same as Argo then (Captain Phillips), a lot of Hollywood embellishment and fiction.
Fruitvale station wasn't immune to it either.

Ofcourse an article about crew members talking bad about the captain while trying to win a 50 milllion dollar lawsuit likely also has plenty exaggerations.

Based on a true story doesn't mean all that much. One of my favorite movies, city of god, is also pretty loose with the facts. Doesn't make it any less great imo. If documentaries can't even be held accountable to follow the facts, what hope is there for movies :)

Being that City of God is one of my top 5 films of all time I agree with ur sentiment. However these other films didn't have people close to the story saying how inaccurate it was and definitely didn't have a lawsuit involving said inaccuracies. Any complaints about accuracy of the other films were minor and or theories based on what other people want to believe happened . Nothing as concrete and damning as what surrounds Captain Phillips.

Listing the movies I enjoyed the most this year

1) Man of Steel
2) Iron Man 3
3) Star Trek Into Darkness
4) Prisoners
5) Despicable Me 2
6) Thor The Dark World
7) The Hunger Games Catching Fire
8) Pacific Rim
9) The Wolf of Wall Street
10) The Great Gatsby

I unfortunately did not get to see 12 Years a Slave and Gravity when they came out and I'm still awaiting to see American Hustle and Her.

Whoa man, u really should. Prisoners and The Conjuring are actually out on Blu ray now. Should start there.

Tough your list is good ( I still didnt manage to see Mandela and Her) The Conjuring left a bad taste in my mouth.

The camera work was absolutly genius (same with the audio), but there is so much this horror genre can offer (when it comes down to exorcism, that is) and I felt that I knew every single moment waht will come next. It was a solid horror flick, but it was nothing new and felt that I have seen the same story for the 10th time at least :|

Also, do you have any sci-fi recomendation for the past year? I swear to god I have not seen one that satisfied my needs :(

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

Prisoners is one of the most over rated thrillers of all time. It's a good movie, but no where near as good as the user rating it has on imdb. It deserves about a 7/10.

I was walking down along the street and I heard this voice saying, "Good evening, Mr. Dowd." Well, I turned around and here was this big six-foot rabbit leaning up against a lamp-post. Well, I thought nothing of that because when you've lived in a town as long as I've lived in this one, you get used to the fact that everybody knows your name.

Elysium is my favorite sci fi film from  last year. Tim Cruise's Sci fi film that bombed was pretty enjoyable too. Looper from last year was outstanding.
